Music that goes straight to your groin.

One of the purposes of music has traditionally been to rouse the passions, yes? So, what particular performers or pieces get you in the mood just hearing them?

I’m looking for songs or artists that do it to you just by the art alone, not because of an association you personally have with them, (ie, “The first time I had sex, ‘True Colors’ was playing on the radio, and now I get hard every time I hear it” would NOT count.)

For me, the artists who do ‘sexy’ well are Leonard Cohen (I’m Your Man has my vote as the sexiest song of all time. OF ALL TIME!), Prince (Cream), and, laugh if you will, Tom Jones (I like his version of Kiss better than the original, and of course She’s a Lady).

On the other hand, Barry White is supposed to be supersexyzomg, but he never did it for me.

Robert Plant, esp. “Whole Lotta Love” and “Tall Cool One”.

I once put Massive Attack’s Mezzanine album on while some folks were over for dinner, including a female friend of my sister. By the second, song, she said to me, “I’m sorry, but I’ve got to ask you to take off that fuck music.” So, I guess that’s a vote in favor.

Leonard Cohen, definitely.

“You Can Leave Your Hat On” by Joe Cocker.

Anything by Heart, especially “Magic Man.” It’s just so hotly, desperately horny.

I prefer their “Crazy on You” for sheer, throbbing sexy.

Toni Braxton’s “You’re Making Me High” is about the sexiest song ever written.

Oni no Maggie, “Cream” is the obvious sexy Prince song, but it wouldn’t be hard to do a couple of albums worth of sexy Prince songs.

Whole Lotta Love - oh, yeah, baby…

Light My Fire by the Doors for the young and energetic.

Ravel’s Bolero?

Tons of dancehall reggae.
Anything by Rza or Ghostface Killa of Wu Tang…it’s thier voice that gets me.
Any kind of African drums type music.
Anything by Sade

Cat Whisperer, I am not a huge fan of Toni Braxton, but that particular song does do it for me. There is a dancehall version that I just love.

“Hey Pretty” by Poe. Either the original or the “Drive-By Remix” featuring her brother’s poetry.

…damn.

Nina Simone. In particular, her version of Feeling Good.

Joe Cocker’s You Are So Beautiful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlDmslyGmGI

I couldn’t find it on YouTube, but John Hammond’s version of Driftin’ Blues has a rhythm that just screams screwing music to me.

Stones- “Stop Breaking Down”

The “Dies Irae” from Verdi’s Requiem.

The final movement of Beethoven’s Ninth.

That one chord from Barber’s Adagio for Strings.

Lots of music by Rachmaninoff.

Justify My Love by Madonna
Clubbed to Death by Rob D

It depends, For romance it would be.
