I just peeked at and added a few to a thread, songs you never get tired of.
It occurred to me that I have a few songs that I turn to, crank up, to help relieve the mental, emotional pressure. I suppose they are commiseration tunes to me, not some soothing mellow thing to calm me. Rather an aid to let me blow it out.
Get Over It. The Eagles.
Killing In The Name Of. Rage Against The Machine. ( Of course, and others of there’s )
Mouth. Bush. Not a particular relationship rant for me, but could be for others.
When The Levee Breaks. Led Zeppelin. Could be worse…Could be raining.
New Orleans Is Sinking. The Tragically Hip. ( Canadian band, listen to them.)
Always Look On The Bright Side of Life. Galaxy Song. Monty Python.
Old Man. Neil Young.
There are a few others. But maybe these give the idea of what I mean. Most may seem downers. But they work for me.
Had a listen. Did not trigger that feeling for me. Not bad though. The recordings I heard, were very hard to here the lyrics. But that may be due to my old ears.
Tool is not know for the clarity of the lyrics for sure! It’s more of the whole sonic attack, as it were. The latest album is quite good, although more ethereal.
Absolutely not dogging on your opinion or music, but I find it amusing just how absolutely stabby those tunes make me. Like red hot frustration & rage. Differnt strokes eh? Strange old world.
The songs I list are not soothing. Well the Monty Python ones are a bit. Aceplace57 gave examples of music to sooth oneself. I have ones for that too. The ones I list assist in venting my pressure, frustration, anger. Played loud. I used the word commiseration. So they are kind of like letting off steam by bitching about things with a friend.
