Music to Shag by, Baby

Here’s the story: A friend asked me for help picking “romantic” songs. Her friend’s hubby is coming back from a four month deployment and she wanted to give them some mood music. It’s been faaaaar too long for me to give any sort of sound advice on fuck music, so I turn to you for help.

Only two songs popped into my head from fond memories:

Sophie B. Hawkins - Damn I Wish I was Your Lover
Pink Floyd - Money

Sigh.

I was thinking some Lords of Acid too, but I’m really at a loss here.

I listened to the whole of that album with the girlfriend and lights down low, probably the most romantic I’ve been with her

A Mr. Barry White is the acknowledged master in this department.

Once things are on the way (so to speak), Ravel’s Bolero ups the tempo…

Possibly a tad too cheesy, but I thought it’s well acknowledged that Marvin Gaye made his money singing about sex.

Red Light Special, by TLC
Practice What You Preach, by Barry White
Rapture, by Anita Baker (just about the entire album)
Come Away With Me, by Norah Jones (same)
All I Want Is You, by U2

Those should get you started.

Hurry, Before The Baby Wakes up by The Coitus Interruptus Experience :frowning:

Try pretty much anything by Massive Attack.

I recommend the Bee Gee’s Still Waters album. It’s a good one even if you aren’t “making whoopee”. (Excuse my French.)

Recent thread on same subject

“Damn U” by Prince.

Didn’t anyone else learn the facts of life from Fast Times at Ridgemont High? Like Mike Damone said, “When it comes to making out, put on side one of Led Zepplin IV.”

Of course, that whole “side one” part is a little obsolete. But the advice is timeless!

Almost anything by Luther Vandross could be considered baby-makin’ music. Except perhaps “Dance With My Father”.

Thanks for that link, Hey You! I did a search, but I didn’t see that.

Another vote for Barry White, and Ravel’s “Bolero.” Some of the Windham Hill stuff is good. And Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” believe it or not. Ah, the memories…

Do you want soft and sweet songs or more…vigorous music? (From your mention of Lords of Acid, I’m assuming the latter.)

If you want the more vigorous kind, I’ve, uh, recently discovered the Cult works well for that purpose. Particularly, their album, Electric.

Anything with lots of wah-wah pedal. Isaac Hayes’ “Theme From Shaft” is great. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ultimate shag music…The entire album “Avalon” by Roxy Music.
akirababe thinks im too sexy while listening to this album.

Has anyone every *actually * done it to Bolero, beside Bo Derek I mean? If so, was it all it’s cracked up to be?

(every == ever… oh for an edit button that works)

Ommadawn by Mike Oldfield, especially the last half of Part I.
