God…stop. Just please stop. You’re not funny, you never were. If you don’t have anything else to add to the OP then leave.
You really don’t have to acknowledge my presence in every thread just to piss me off.
Consider this ended, and take the advice of Alpha. You’re quickly becoming a troll, and trolls are quickly banned.
See ya around.
Well, I like the Beastie Boys.
<Shut up, Steve, you sound like a geek>
And, I also enjoy some of MC Hammer’s stuff.
<Shut up! Shut up! I’m ashamed to be here with you.>
Well, I better go.
<Sigh. People, this is Steve’s coolness, and I’m begging you, don’t make any more threads like this! He hurts my reputation without having to be helped.>

Oh…my…GOD! Just shut the FUCK UP you moron!! You always have to bring attention to yourself, don’t you, you troll?! For once, a Pit thread is not about you, but because of your idiocy, it’s becoming one!
Shit. Ban this fucker. It’ll only get worse.

**Anyway, suffice to say I don’t listen to any radio at all. I stay at home and listen to pretentiously-lyricked Canadian bands that nobody in Mississippi has ever heard of, and obscure alt.country artists that can’t be found in stores. **
I hope that you aren’t talking about Neko Case or The New Pornographers, because I just saw Jay and Silent Bob last night, and you’ll never guess who I heard in the background…

and what does “probaly” mean?
Probaly means that I don’t have enough respect for you to spelcheck my posts.
The stuff you hear on the radio is crap, yes I’ll give you that much, but please don’t rip on rap and hip hop as a whole. Don’t let rappers like Nelly, The Cash Money Millionaires and Master P influence you, because they flat out SUCK. I consider myself a serious music listener, I enjoy many different types, but rappers such as Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Pharoahe Monch and many others represent real music, and rap about real issues. They look at women with respect instead of looking at them as objects, they believe that all races should be as one instead of divided. Deceased rappers such as Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G. and Big L were all mic poets as well. In fact most of Big L’s first album “Lifestylez ov da poor and dangerous” was in a more positive direction, telling youths from the inner city to stay positive and make it out.
Ah, dalovindj, shall I compare thee to a beautiful summer’s day, spent in a sweltering garbage dump?
Snoops’s upside my head
If someone hasn’t started the betting pool for when doof750 gets banned, now’s the time.
Jeeeeeeeeeezus, what a dumbass.
Run along now junior so the grownups can talk.

peace. it’s friday. bernie worell (from parliament funkadelic) is playing at tobacco road, and I gotta be gettin’ a buzz one. 5000.DaLovin’Dj **
Just gotta say, as a keyboard player, bernie worell is one of my all time heros. The stuff he did with parliment, as well the stuff on The Talking heads “Stop making sense” was just pure genious. For those unfamiliar, the keyboards on burning down the house was Bernie, and he’s in the movie stop making sense.

I had some punk friends who used to ride around in a spraypainted black Volkswagen thing blaring out Celtic music at full volume. It was a memorable experiance to watch the expressions on peoples faces as they pulled up.

It’s ok, dj. Some folks are humor-impaired.
Humor is an evolved trait.
Ah, you clearly haven’t read any of daalovindeejay’s GD threads. Now that’s comedy.
Laugh it up pretty boy. You just wait till I’m pimpin’ God-like in my new and improved body. I hear the new models have invisibility as an option.

You know, I could liste to dalovindj all day. I got no idea what he’s saying, mind you, but I love the way he says it.
Thanks. Language is an art, even if alot of peeps around here treat it like science.

The rap you hear on the radio nowadays sucks. If you listen to REAL rap, like Tupac Shakur, Notorious BIG, Talib Kweli/Blackstar or Big L, with an open mind I think you’ll enjoy it more than Nelly, who sucks a big fat horse dick.
Thats not to say you’ll love rap, I’m saying that REAL rap isn’t shit like that.
Mobo, you need to listen to Talib Kweli and/or Mos Def (aka Black Star.) They are 2 of the best rappers ever. And they’re not at all vulgar
I dig Nelly. They drop some dope beats. Lyrics are allright. Not so enlightened. But your right, he’s not even in the same league as Mos Def, or Biggie, or BDP, Or Eric B. and Rakim, Black Eyed Peas, Tribe Called Quest, Audio Two, NWA, Guru, Dilated Peoples, Pharcyde, Blackalicious, Latyrx, DJ Shadow, Schooly D., Del the Funky, Poor Righteous Teachers, or (fuck all the haters) Eminem.
The point is that hip-hop is not “stupid” or “just noise”. It is one of the coolest art-forms going these days. The guy in the OP just sits back and complains while these mutha fucka’s put in thousands of hours of practice to get they’re skillz (MCing, Djing) on point. You know that cat aint never gonna rock-a-house like the hip-hop does. But he’s all about dissin’ them. they got words for peeps like this. By the way, Mos Def ended up at that concert the other night. He’ Bernie Worell’s cousin. He got up on stage and sang a hendrix tune. Now, Mos Def and I have played on the same stage. I dig.

DJ, I don’t know why everyone is giving you shit for the way you talk. Keep it real. Don’t let them bring you down.
Thanks for the love. It’s just an old pattern for some folks. Different = Bad. God forbid you try to see what’s good in the hip-hop culture. “If it aint like me I don’t like it.” crazy fools.

That show was dope. The funk is a thing unto itself. It is better than all other things, When the sun goes down Funk takes to the throne so that the kids can funk it up too. Bernie Worell: Much respect. I got back stage passes at this place, so it’s something of a mind-fuck to actually sit there and bullshit with one of the original members of P-Funk.

Plat it loud and proud. Glenn Miller is DaBomb! My favorite is “In the Mood”. Damn if that don’t get em dancin too. See I like all kinds of music, and I would never diss a musician just cause I don’t like his shit. It takes too much practice and you gotta go thru too much bullshit to make it as a musician. You gotta give some respect to anyone who can get paid for their art. Even Bruce Springstein. Whose music I cannot stand. But that doesn’t make it stupid.

You were doing so well up until that one. A good many SDers sorta frown on the use of “gay” as an insult. You know, what with so many of them actually being gay and all.
I was gonna write a really long post, but then I got high.
I was gonna argue, incite, and boast, but then I got high.
So if I don’t return to this thread, you’ll know why.
It’s cause I got high, cause I got high, cause I got high.

Dude, drop that from your insult vocabulary. It will seriously get you into trouble around here, and rightly so.

When I started to work here I had a Parliment tape in my car. We all went to lunch in my car, an older black guy I worked with just kinda stared at me"you like this stuff?". Me and him became close friends after that. He used to go see them in his younger days. Our token redneck in the group just hated it. He bitched about most of the way to lunch and back. A few weeks later I walk by his cube and hes singing “Make my funk the P Funk, I wants to get funked up” out of key at the top of his lungs. He must have 20 parliment mp3’s on his machine at work now. His wife and his co-workers have never forgiven me…
Even before I knew who bernie was, I was in awe of the keyboard work on Stop Making Sense. It lead me to find Parliment, all is good. I even have both of the DVD’s(the old one rocks, the new one sucks).
I used to think that rap was utterly stupid, and that those who performed rap were ignorant fuckwads who constantly drugged up and treated women like shit. However, due to people like those posting to this thread, I have been enlightened. Now I know that only some rappers behave this way.
I no longer think of all rap as pitiful. I have learned that the rap genre, much like the rock, country, easy listening, even classical genres, has winners and losers. The trick is to listen to a wide variety and figure out which you like. Also, bobevilsquid, as has been said, tune to another station, or if you can’t find one, spend a little money and get a CD player.
I tend to agree that Nelly and Master P and are idiotic fuckweasels who need to find new jobs. However, there are plenty of rap artists that have intelligent lyrics and intricate and interesting beats, and some of them don’t rely merely on profanity and the whole “gangsta” mentality to get their point across. Of course, there are some rappers that think this way that I enjoy, in the same way that I enjoy a good screaming heavy metal tune. It’s fun to scream along with them; I relieve a lot of tension this way.
Whatever you enjoy, don’t malign an entire genre just because you’re not familiar with its greats. And don’t make fun of those who enjoy the least talented of the genre - each to his own, eh?
Oh, and dalovindj, I was with you (although sometimes I have trouble interpreting your verbal style) until recently. Be carful what you say; after all, you seemed to have some good points there. It’d be a pity to alienate most of the SDMB posters with some carelessly worded insults.
By the way, I have pulled into parking lots blasting “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”. It does indeed turn heads.
Gay as in lame(cheesy happy). Not gay as in Homosexual. It’s part of how the kids talk these days. Check out the hottie in “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”. She uses the word the same way, speaking to a girl who has just done something corny. It’s not to say:
“You are a person who has sex with the same sex and that is bad”.
It’s more like:
“You are a cheesy freak and what you think is cool, aint”.
Like the way Fred had a gay old time. I stand by it. The OP’er WAS being gay: twisting shakespear around to form some sort of weird freaky version of an insult. Everyone wants to re-write the greats. That’s not to say he sleeps with men (there are much more colorful words for that). . . just that he’s a cornball who needs to work on his trash talk (which is a fine art). So no offense meant to anyone except the OP’er.
Damn if every thread on this place don’t come down to talkin’ about definitions.

Maybe the stupid ones. I’m sure if some people started saying, “God, that is so black” meaning “God, that is so lame,” people might have a problem with it. Get it?
“You are a cheesy freak and what you think is cool, aint”.
Yes, and an intelligent person might understand that gay people might not want the same word that describes their sexuality used in such a manner.
Like the way Fred had a gay old time.
Um, no, in that case it meant “happy.”
