Yes, yet another madness tournament. My Pearl Jam tournament was interesting, but did not have very much participation (I think the primary factor was that they continued to write great albums long after they fell out of the mainstream, and all the foreign song titles scared away the casual fans), but here is a different type of music tournament, one which ANY music fan can enjoy.
The purpose of this tournament is to determine what the most beloved of all musical instruments is. Simply just choose the instrument which you prefer. I separated the brackets based on the method of producing sound (although I had to make a couple controversial changes in order to get 16 instruments into each bracket), and seeded based on how popular/well-known in western music I perceive the instrument to be. I also mixed in electronic instruments with their acoustic equivalents.
You are welcome to skip votes if you aren’t sure who to vote for, but a quick wikipedia search should give you an image and sound preview of each instrument on this list.
Voting closes Tuesday night.

Crap, I just realized that Harpsichord managed to make it into this twice, in two separate brackets. That wasn’t intentional…it could fit into either category. I guess if it wins one of them, that one will go through to the next round, and if it wins both, the Harpsichord that wins by a smaller margin (vs Dobro or Music Box), will have its competitor advance.

What’s with all the flute hate (or irrational harmonica love, whichever it is)? I mean, I know the collective term for a grouping of flautists is “minefield”, but… the competitors are freaking HARMONICAS.
