I – living in the middle of pretty much nowhere – just found this musical. It leaves me breathless. Who has seen it. Does it stage as well as the CD plays?
It is simply some of the BEST theatre music I’ve heard in probably the last few years at least. (And I love the music from “Wicked” and “Light in the Piazza”) but this is simply magnificent.
Who else has fallen under the spell?
I’m sure some folks whow know this show more will be in soon, but I like what I’ve heard of this show so far.
I’ve just been to a few cabaret-type shows in NYC, with aspiring actor/singers doing their things for no cover, two drink minimums, and at least twice I’ve gone, “that was a great song, what is it?” and it’s turned out to have been from The Last Five Years.
I saw this when it was off-Broadway a couple of years ago - saw it with Norbert Leo Butz (and proceeded to fall in love with him immediately) and Sherie Renee Scott. I’ve also heard it with Lauren Kennedy, and she’s got a more vulnerable personality than SRS, but both approach the role really well.
It IS just as breathtaking on stage. The time passed faster than just about any show I’ve ever seen - it’s a beautiful, engaging production, and wow…the music had me in tears and holding my sides from laughing (Shiksa Goddess).
This is one of those shows that I can listen to over and over and over again. I absolutely adore it.

This is my experience exactly!
