Musicians, Movie and Tv Celebrities with Coronavirus. Discussion

John Prine is hospitalized and in critical condition. The symptoms indicate it’s probably Covid-19.

Man, this virus is going after some legendary songwriters/musicians.

Alan Merrill — who wrote the song “I Love Rock and Roll” that became a signature hit for fellow rocker Joan Jett — died Sunday in New York of complications from the coronavirus, his daughter sad. He was 69.

ETA: Aye; that’s copy/pasted from the link.

Japanese comedian Ken Shimura dies from coronavirus: NHK.

For those who don’t know, America’s Funniest Home Videos is based on a recurring segment in Shimura’s old TV show, Fun TV with Kato-chan and Ken-chan (You’ll see that information in the credits for each episode of AFV).

Adam Schlesinger the co-founder of Fountains of Wayne and an EGOT nominee has died.

RIP patriarch Ellis Marsalis.

A guy named Andrew Jack who had a small roll in two of the Star Wars sequel trilogy movies has died.

Ali “Schmoopie” Wentworth has it.

Jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli has died from the coronavirus at 94.

He was the father of John Pizzarelli, and an enduring figure in jazz music in his own right. Known for playing a seven-string guitar, he worked with people from Dizzy Gillespie to Benny Goodman to Sarah Vaughan to Dick Hyman. Saw him about 10 years ago playing with a local wind symphony orchestra. Never did get to see him perform with his son, who I’ve seen a number of times.

Singer Pink tested positive for the virus.

Christopher Cross has Covid-19.

I listened to his first album constantly after it came out in 1979. Sailing is still one of my favorite songs.

Marianne Faithfull makes the list. Hospitalized.

Shoot. After all she went thru and worked so hard to come back from a very low point back when. Given her health and all, her chances aren’t good.

Little trivia on her, if I recall correctly:

She was the first person to say “fuck” in a mainstream movie.

Tom Dempsey, who was born without toes on one foot, and kicked the, at the time, longest field goal in NFL history has died from Covid-19.

CNN has two sick with the virus: Chris Cuomo and Brooke Baldwin.

John Prine has died of the virus.

My friend Eric wanted me to go see Prine a few years back, but I hesitated. He reminded me that Prine wouldn’t be performing forever, convincing me to go. It was a great night. I just got a text from Eric, “told you”.:frowning:

Producer Hal Wilner has died, aged 64, and although he was not confirmed as suffering from Covid 19, he had “symptoms consistent with the Caronavirus”. :frowning:

‘Fox & Friends’ weekend co-host Jedediah Bila contracts the coronavirus.

Denis Brott, a Montreal cellist, has it. And isn’t doing well.

I don’t know how well-known he is outside of Montreal, or outside of the classical music world, but he’s locally well-known, and has been the leader of this city’s popular chamber music festival, as well as an experienced music teacher.

I enjoyed volunteering at the chamber music festival back in the day, and we had good times.

So hard to take. So sad.

Broadway actor Nick Cordero has been in the hospital for 2 weeks treating Coronavirus. He’s developed a blood clot in his leg. It was amputated.

Nick is a pretty young guy. He was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical.

I hope he recovers and resumes his career in musical theatre.
You don’t hear much about secondary complications with Coronavirus. Blood clots are always a concern during bed rest.
