John Prine in critical condition [EDIT: RIP]

It was posted on his Facebook page by his family. He was hospitalized on 3/26, has been intubated and is in critical condition. They said that he had a sudden onset of conditions.

Although this is due to the coronavirus, it’s better suited to Cafe Society.

His wife has symptoms, too. John Prine, 73, hospitalized in critical condition with coronavirus symptoms

God damn, this shit is getting personal.

Hands off Prine, virus.

He’s one of my favorite song writers and singers. Good wishes to John and his wife.

:frowning:

Prine wrote Angel From Montgomery. Bonnie Raitt had a huge hit with it. Angel From Montgomery is Bonnie’s signature song.

John and Bonnie have toured together many times.

John Prine is a national treasure.

(:() so sad

What’s your favorite Prime song? Excluding his Angel from Montgomery hit.

Mine is Grandpa was a Carpenter. I enjoy playing it. It’s a fun strumming song.

Prime has great characters in his songs.

Prine

Stupid autocorrect turns it into prime every time.

I just heard about this on another songwriter’s live stream performance. This is heartbreaking.

Joan Baez does a nice thing from her kitchen

Damn. I’ve been a Prine fan since before his first album came out. Too many favorites to count, but I’m especially fond of “Same Stone,” "Your Flag Decale Won’t Get You (Into Heaven Any More), and “Hello in There,” all off his first album.

I’m grieved.

Paradise

This news actually brought me to tears. I’ve seen him in concert more than anyone else, my first concert was John Prine at the Cellar Door in DC.

She reminds me of a chess game with someone I admire
Or a picnic in the rain after a prairie fire
Her heart is as big as this whole goddamn jail
And she’s sweeter than saccharine at a drugstore sale.

Come on, buddy, pull through. We need your kind.

Hello in there

How Lucky - Lyrics

Song - Here

Today I walked down a street I used to wander
Yeah I scratched my head and I lit a cigarette
There was all these things that I don’t think I remember
Hey how lucky can one man get

As I grow older and see the cycle of life repeat over and over, there have been a few constants. One of these is that John Prine has been an inspiration and has been leading the way.

The Accident (Things Could Be Worse)

Last night I saw an accident
On the corner of Third and Green
Two cars collided and I got excited
Just being part of that scene
It was Mrs. Tom Walker and her beautiful daughter
Pamela, was driving the car
They got hit by a man in a light blue sedan
Who had obviously been to a bar
