Musicians that appeared in commercials

In the erly days of MTV, musicians did some spots for it. I can only remember **Pete Townsend **and Mark Knofler, but there were probably others.

There’s Bob Dylan’s creepy Victoria Secret underwear commercial/

Bo, you don’t know Diddley.

Does anyone else get a slightly dated, possibly racist, vibe to the hockey reference in there? Like, of course Bo could not possibly know anything about hockey, being black? I mean, they could’ve played it like the tennis scene…

They don’t appear, but here are the Rolling Stones pushing Rice Krispies.

Damn, that’s fun. I’ve never heard that.

The Police and Pat Benetar did too.

Itzhak Perlman for the American Express card.

Ella also plugged Triscuit.
Sung to the tune of A-Tisket A-Tasket:

A Triscuit a Triscuit,
Delicious whole wheat Triscuit,
(Something…)
Made only by Nabisco!

I just remembered another one.

Little Richard for Geico.

Pomplamoose did several car commercials during the Holiday season

Related to the Blurred Lines thread, that Beats pill speaker thingie with the Blurred Lines video knock-off.

On the flip side, Neil Young refuses to sing for commercials. He even wrote a song about it.

Ain’t singin’ for Pepsi
Ain’t singin’ for Coke
I don’t sing for nobody
Makes me look like a joke
This note’s for you.

John Densmore also refuses to allow Doors songs to be used for commercial purposes. And they could have made a shit tonne of money doing so.
