Musing/wondering on Flight 93 and memorials... (not about crescents)

Reading about some recent hubbub about the plans for the proposed memorial to Flight 93, that brought to mind a question: has anyone ever asked that passenger Mark Bingham be excluded from any such rememberances (besides obvious wackjobs like Fred Phelps)? On one hand, he was openly gay, which some prominent folks probably think is a sin, and shouldn’t be encouraged by putting someone like that up on a pedestal. On the other hand, Bingham was politically conservative, from what I’ve read, and he DID die on 9/11, quite probably actively fighting back against terrorists, and that would likely override most discomfort with his sexual orientation.

Still, I wonder. Anyone happen to know of anything?
