I think the new Mustang rocks, is there a GT-500 or Kr500 planned?, if so I may have to buy one.

Don’t know, but right now top of the line is the GT. Haven’t heard of any t8uner versions yet, but I’d bet Saleen will be doing something with it soon.
Have you sat in one yet? Someone I know brought a rental around the other day, and while the body design is indeed smart the interior materials are cheesy beyond belief. Oh, wait, it’s a Ford, so it’s not entirely beyond belief.
The next ‘special’ Mustang is going to be the SVT. Word has it that it will have four wheel independent suspension, at least 400 HP, and the input of Carrol Shelby himself. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if it gets the “GT500” or “GT350” moniker, or maybe just “Shelby Cobra” or something. From what I understand, Ford is going straight at the Corvette and/or the BMW M3 with this car. In other words, it won’t just be a muscle car, but a good sports car with handling to match its power.
It’s also going to be at least $10,000 more than the current GT.
Btw, check out the Edmunds review of the new Mustang. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them rave about a car like that.
I wonder if there’ll be a Saleen model.
Wow, fellow Doper car geeks,
I am kind of in the market for a new car and currently 2 models that don’t exist have a hold of me:
The above mentioned GT-500 and
The PT Cruiser Panel (Panel Truck or Pie Wagon, whatever they call it)
The PT Cruiser suits my needs better (and would be an excellent “company car”) but a GT-500 OR A Kr500 would be hard to resist!!.
Unclviny (who is having imaginary car problems)
[weebl] Mmmmm… Pie Wagon [/weebl]
But seriously, the new 'stang is the first new car to interest me in years, and the first Ford car I’ve seriously considered.
No way in hell can I afford one though, ::sigh::
I’ve heard a romour that thet aren’t the widest of cars. You may want to check before splashing out the $.
Unclviny, I’ve seen pix of a one-off PT Panel Truck from a hot rod show. It would seem fairly simple to do. I think Daimler-Chrysler already offers a PT with a turbo. There also was a PT ragtop before the factory did it. If you flash the cash, the builders will come. Somebody in another thread called the PT a hearse (for Munchkins?) and that might be an interesting project, too. There are hotrod shops that will be happy to build you a 2005 GT350, if you don’t want to wait for Saleen to do it.
Saleen will most definitely have a version (or several) of the new stangs. Roush and Steeda will also be in the mix just like they have been for the past several years.
Ford will be making some kind of special editions like the previous Bullitts & Mach 1s, but they won’t be available until around 2007. 2006 will be the release of the SVT Cobra.
I think the new style suxx.
Also, as with all mustangs, they are most definately not meant for winter driving.
