. . . on Simchas Torah, which was the Jewish holiday celebrated yesterday (and Tuesday night). It celebrates the end (and immediate beginning) of the yearly cycle for reading the Torah. The celebration has lots of dancing and singing, and lots of candy for the little ones.
I was in a circle, holding a Torah and dancing, and my six year old motioned to me that she wanted to kiss the Torah (a tradition) I was holding. I couldn’t get out to her immediately, and she kept motioning impatiently. Finally I made my way out of the circle, walked over to her, and she got to kiss the Torah. And then . . . the biggest, brightest smile I think I’ve ever seen from her. She melted my heart. I only wish I could have had a camera to capture that smile. ;j
How do little kids DO that?
