Thanks. But if this is true, you are just looking in the wrong places. This board is filled with intelligent, kind, and witty people. It’s easy to lose site of that in the pit. May I recommend spending some time in GQ, MPSIMS, IMHO, & Cafe Society? People tend to be much more chill to each other in those places. It’s easy to get what I like to call “Pit Eyes”, where you end up feeling like everyone on this board is rude, or oversensitive, or jerkish based on the behaivior of a few in The Pit. That really isn’t the case. Your apology and tone in the last couple of posts lead me to believe you should be given the benefit of the doubt. Again, good luck!

I’d rather not get into the etymology debate once again - my positions are pretty well covered in the linked threads. I will say briefly that it would depend on the context, the intention of the speaker, and the nature of the audience to determine whether such would be appropriate, bigoted, joking, or none of the above.
