The warning is as much based on your posts in the Gitmo threads as it is your admitted motivation for posting them. They already read like borderline trolling before you came here and stated that you were in fact misrepresenting your own opinions to get a rise out of people, so now it’s pretty much a no-brainer. You stated flat out that you were trolling in those threads. I can’t ignore that just because you were nice enough to admit it.

I appreciate your honesty, but honesty does not automatically confer absolution. It’s just a warning. Learn from it, debate more honestly from now on, and everyone wins.

You’re also going to find that people will remember your trollish behavior and cut you less slack henceforth than they would other Dopers who haven’t estabished that sort of pattern. I know my first reaction to seeing your username, even after this apology, is negative given what I’ve seen of you in the Gitmo thread. Whatever you post is going to be read in light of that.

Yes, you can overcome that, in time, but you’ll have to do one hell of a lot of other-cheek-turning for quite a while to judge by what I’ve seen other folks go through.

The problem with hiring a bunch of Goody Two Shoes and Mr Spocks for mods is that they don’t understand getting a bit irrationally exuberant and how you can do it without realizing you are.

I take issue with this characterization. I am frequently exuberant and I point to any of my numerous irrationally hostile posts to support my contention.

I know not if the OP meant that Durbin hurled insults and inflamed responses with his language or was just referrring to the shit storm that occurred afterwards. I merely post here to say that the man posited a question and a premise. So, if the OP meant that Durbin started this firestorm, I have to say that the OP has mis-characterized both the remarks and the Senator.

As for Christ–to each his own. I am not sure how the OP reconciles following Christ with torture in ME prisons etc, but that is between the OP and Christ. I can see the temptation to tell the thought process, but was it necessary?
