BTW - it might be worth checking with a tax advisor to make sure you know how to handle gifts and contributions at tax time. I have ZERO clue whether these are taxable income, gifts, whatever… but perhaps there are some tax-savvy Dopers here who could at least suggest some reading. I would utterly hate to see the IRS give you any trouble.

Kinda sad to pit cancer kids against SMA kids now that I think about it.
I guess it is, but every fucking Tom, Dick and Harry in the world solicits donations for cancer. You can’t turn around nowdays without someone wanting money for cancer victims of one sort of another.
I’m happy to vote for the SMA kids.
