I saw this today in my blog-reading, and I thought, hey, I know that kiddo! You just got a lot more visibility, Bearflag70! Congrats!
Yeah, there are some bloggers out there really helping us out! It’s fantastic!
For those who don’t know the story, when we got the diagnosis last year, one of our dear friends, who is a small potatoes blogger, stepped up and offered to do anything she could for us. She was pretty much single-handedly responsible for putting on a great craft fair in Sacramento for us.
Then, she just so happened to be talking to another blogger and mentioned that she loved a band called The Damnwells… it’s her favorite band. It turns out this other blogger knows The Damnwells personally and she offered to put our friend in touch with The Damnwells.
The Damnwells had been toying with the idea of writing a lullaby album. When our friend told them of Getty, one of the members of The Damnwells and his wife decided to do the lullaby album, name it after Getty, and donate all the proceeds to Getty Owl Foundation.
The album is available here and is called Sweet Water Child - Lullabies for Getty.
A bunch of bloggers are taking it upon themselves to promote it.
Oh … and the second annual craft fair is coming up!
The local radio station that did Baby Idol is talking to us about getting Getty Owl Foundation some promotion. It’s actually one company that owns 6 local stations. We were also just contacted today by a magazine thanks to the blogging buzz, I suppose.
The whole thing .. all the outpouring of love and support … is surreal and we appreciate it so much. As my wife posted on Facebook the other day, “[SMA] can’t hide any more, you piece of shit.”
