Thanks. Preparing for war.
Good luck!
Her 1st day of preschool is today! Who’d a thunk? Proud dad here.
Preschool? Good heavens! You’ve worked so hard to get her there.
OMG! Preschool!
Better start saving for Harve/Yale/UCLA now. No, I’m serious, she could be the next Stephen Hawking, right?
this is the best school related news ever! i hope getty has a wonderful time at pre-school.
This is terrific. I hope it is a great experience for her.
I saw the FB post. Yay for Getty! So glad she had a good time.
Hi Bearflag,
I can’t tell you how happy I am to read your recent updates. I haven’t posted much on the Dope in a couple of years, and from time to time I’ve remembered you and your family and have wondered how you’ve all been.
I am THRILLED that Getty is doing so well, and I’m touched, as always, to see parents as dedicated as you are.
Continued best wishes!
Aww. Congratulations to your little owl! What a reason to pop open the champagne and celebrate!
Thank you all.
We have been concerned that she would be “behind” in learning because she lacks practical experience of learning by her own movement and exploration of the world.
Perhaps.
On the flip side, her in-home teacher is amazed at the things Getty seems to be picking up on. She says the fact that Getty has such an awesome attention span, she can teach Getty things faster than she could teach able bodied kids who need to bounce around and fidget for a good part of each day.
Teacher’s assessment: she’s a very smart kid.
Great to hear. Thanks for the update.
Wow, I know lots of teachers who would love to have a student with a real attention span. Go Getty!
Happy 4th Birthday, Getty!
Happy birthday Getty!
Four years old already! Happy birthday, Getty!
Happy Birthday, Getty!
This is amazing! Congratulations to you, your wife and your little owl. Thank you for sharing!
Happy Birthday, Getty! Do you know you have so many people you’ll never meet, from around the world, cheering you on?
Wow. I just realized that she’s of a generation that will never think of that as out of the ordinary. To me it’s still science fiction.
Happy Birthday Getty! I wish you many more to come. I’m fairly new here, so I just discovered this thread - from start to finish, it’s an unbelievable, incredible story.
Maybe threads about new babies will become a usual keepsake for people - “Here’s my birth certificate, the picture of me first walking, my favorite stuffed animal, my birth announcement message board thread . . .” ![]()
