My Bank is Triple Charging me for an Amazon order. Now what?

I just checked my bank balance and statement. My bank has taken an 8.99 order from Amazon, and has billed me for it three times.

Who do I go to first?

Where on earth is this covered under Amazon’s help center?

Unless you receive three items, the problem is probably with the bank. But first, look at Amazon under Your Account, and check your Open Orders. There should be a link, upper right on the website.

I’d call Amazon first. Their number is 1-866-216-1072. Or you can sign in and search for customer service and click the Contact Us link to get other methods.

My Account at Amazon has me down for just one of the three 8.99 items. My bank is still “processing” the three 8.99 items.

Maybe wait a day and see if they don’t clear after everything polls.

This is assuming that you just placed the Amazon order today and are obsessively checking your account. I have had customers call me within an hour of a voided and rerung transaction, claiming they are being double charged. I explain to them the realities of a register that only polls once a night, and how the temporary hold will disappear after the transaction is finalized when the register closes. In fact, if we have to void it while they are in the store, we explain that before we do it.

Please breathe.
