Years ago, a friend sent me a funny webpage with a domain containing something like “mybestfriend”. You enter someone’s name, and moments later, an advanced (for the time, I suppose) animated Flash message appears, exalting the named person with much praise, all while playing the stirring Dragonheart theme used in so many movie trailers. I’ve been trying to track down this site, but haven’t been able to do so.
Does this strike a chord for anyone out there? Many gracious thanks if you can help me ID it.
Dude, I used my best Googlefu, and a few sites that might have helped the last time you posted this, but no luck. It’s possible the site doesn’t even exist anymore.
C/P of previous posts probably isn’t the best idea here, but that’s just my interpretation. If nobody has an answer after a few bumps, you might just be SOL.
This has been driving me nuts. I remembered the site and knew there had to be something out there about it but I’ve been searching on this all week and kept coming back with absolutely nothing. But being stubborn as I am I kept trying and finally I was able to get some info on this.
I was able to determine the original site was youaremyfriend.com. Cite (Newsweek article).
Unfortunately, as you will see if you try to visit youaremyfriend.com, it is no longer active, there’s just an ad/placeholder type page there.
However, if you search the IWBM with certain names in the URL, such as john.youaremyfriend.com you can find a copy of the original animation/music, but it’s “broken” in that it doesn’t display the name you enter, just the generic message.
So, the original site doesn’t work anymore, but at least here’s some info about it and a copy to look at.
