I have complained about her to my boss. Also, anytime I hear her speak harshly to a child I call her out about it. Once she slammed down the milk at my table and said she mumbled “stupid kids, I can’t stand 'em”. I cornered her, got in her face, and told her I don’t want to ever hear that again and so on. The boss hear about this and said that is what she needs. Well if the boss agrees why am I the only one confronting her? I am taking actions about this situation noone else is. I heard by way of the rumor mill that she was going to be written up, and I was happy to hear this. I figured the boss would sit with her and discuss her inappropriate behavior, kinda give her the choice of improving or being sacked. Well I found out today that instead of confronting her about it, she gave her a sealed envelope with a write-up. The Bosslady said to her, “this is your write-up, don’t bitch about it”. And that is it. What the hell!?
Also, to address the person who wanted to “pit” me: This has nothing to do with the parents. I am just showing what can and does happen at a daycare. Some parents may put good faith in their childcare providers and may be doing so wrongly. It is a reality people should be aware of.
So you haven’t reported to anyone one other than your ineffectual boss and us, why?
As a child care workers, you are required by law to report abuse of any kind! To the authorities, not your spineless boss! In fact, if your boss has been told and knows about this person’s behavior and *doesn’t * report it, they can lose their jobs and there will be a negative write up on file at DHS or whatever agency licenses daycares in your area and there may even be a fine and possibly jailtime involved (And the same goes for YOU!) if a parent wants to bring the hammer down and if it was me, I would be on the phone with the licensing worker every damn day until something was done.
I taught preschool for 8 years and have been a Director for three different ones in the past. These regulations were hammered into our heads before we were even allowed in a classroom.
Report, report, report!
Before a parent does, and ALL of you lose your jobs!
