How does one become a breast-inspector?
Do you have to pass a proficiency test?
Do you get a diploma?
I’d like to challenge the exam, if I may.

Okay, I apologize.
I wandered in here by accident, and stayed, well, I don’t know why.
Anyway, something struck me funny and I tried to make a little joke.
I’m sorry.
:o Gee, thanks. And here I thought you were my friend.
Scout, all good advice. Let me offer one more suggestion that has helped me a lot. And, yes, I used to run an average of 8 miles a day, just for fun. Till my boobs got too big for comfort. <TMI, I know> Get some plain white flannel from the fabric store, and make yourself a couple <or 4> 2-3" wide strips, long enough to completely cover each bra half. Put them between your bra and your skin. Takes a few seconds to do, and it will go a long way toward preventing chafing again. A side benefit is that they will also absorb most of your sweat, keeping you cooler and dryer.
Nurse Cindi checking in:
It was because of my large breasts (DD) that I gave up trying to run. My nipples would chafe and my whole chest would ache. It just wasn’t worth it. (not to mention the constant black eyes  )
First off wash your hands well before you start doing any wound care. You don’t want to get any more bacteria in that open mess.
Ok for the existing raw spots vaseline, A&D ointment, zinc oxide are all good. Triple antibiotic ointment would be even better. DO NOT PUT ALCOHOL ON YOUR RAW FLESH UNLESS YOU WOULD REALLY LIKE SOME SERIOUS PAIN.
You can buy telfa pads in the first aid section to pad the tender areas until they are well healed. They look like a shiny gauze pad. They will soak up any exudate and won’t stick to the sore. Don’t use plain gauze cause it will stick. It may debride the scab but it is rougher that it needs to be. If the scab becomes really hard you can try dampening a washcloth with warm salt water(1 tsp sea salt or regular salt to 1 cup water) put cloth in microwave 20-30 seconds and apply to area for about 30 minutes before your bath. It goes without saying to make sure the compress is not so hot it will burn you. Gently wash the area well with antibacterial soap and warm water daily and generously apply ointment and keep covered till not oozing any more.
In the future wear the tightest well-fitting sports bra you can find.
[sub]DISCLAIMER:I am not a doctor and I’m offering these suggestions as mere first aid tips. If it gets worse, more red, or isn’t healing see your Dr. [/sub]
Telfa pads + Tegraderm = a happier girl
I highly reccomend delicate massage of the affected area and surrounding parts. As it turns out, I happen to be very proficient in such err, medical techniques. My phone number is…
You’re not its only fan:
I’m serious, if not the subject of a book this could at least be the chapter in a book: say the woman’s handbook for sports. Up until a few years ago, I could not carry anything in my left shirt pocket because it irritated the nipple. I had to have one surgical lancing of an infection and finally a mastectomy. Some of the suggestions here may have helped me back then.
