Interestingly, I recently received a text form my brother. I’d given him a vacuum-sealer food savor for Christmas, but he finally got it a couple weeks ago. He was so excited! He called it the “Mack Daddy” of food savers. We were very different sorts of people, and to have given him exactly the right present was great.

Thanks, everyone. I still feel sort of punched in the gut, or that feeling when you’ve been thrown from your horse and one second you were up in the saddle and the second you were flat on your back with the wind knocked out of you and no notion how you got there.

I’ve been thinking about your situation. Since your brother was so young, will there be an exam to determine cause of death? I ask because if there is a health reason that may apply to other family members, such as yourself, or his children, it would be useful to know. I apologize for poking at a painful subject. I ask out of concern, and certainly there is no need to share the information here.
