My brother does it again!

For the second time in a row, my brother and his wife have managed to have a child on an historic day!!!
The first, a girl, was born on September 11, 2001. Today, on perhaps the most important election day of this century, their second child, a boy, was born!
This cheers me up immensely because it means that no matter who “wins” the election I can look back on today as a good day.
I suppose this is mundane and pointless to most people, but I just had to share!!!

Feel free to add your own good new to this thread. And three cheers for my nephew!!! I’m so excited!

Congrats, Aunt Ghanima! What’s his name?

Yay for the happy family!

Many congratulations Ghanima!

Congratulations! It certainly adds a whole new spin to the day. My baby sister was born on the day that Nixon won by a landslide (second term) and that’s how I always recall her birthday.

Happy happy, Ghanima! On a day filled with such uncertainty, a nice big unalloyed Good Thing is just what the doctor ordered!

Mrs. Bob and I were married 19 years ago . . . on April 19 :frowning:

Congradulations on your nephew. My daughter was also born on 9/11/2001. I put up a thread about what happened to us that day. http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=275493

So what’s it like having to fill out 9/11/2001 as a birth date on various legal forms? Has the (now 3+ year old) kid expressed any interest or curiosity about it.

My god, it’s amazing that there are now talking, thinking (kind of), questioning human beings in the world who were BORN on 9/11, for whom it will always just be history.

I hope they both delivered their votes before delivering the kid.

Make them name him Kerry.

By the way…about the thread title; your brother did it again? Back to Bio class for you!

Thanks, all. His first name is William, middle name Warner. Quite a mouthful for a wee babe, but I’m sure he’ll grow into it - his dad’s navy nickname was Moose, because he’s so big. I hope everyone calls him Will for short instead of Billy, but I’m just an auntie (!) so who knows what we’ll end up calling him. They didn’t even know the sex of the baby until he came out! That sounds so archaic this day and age but they wanted it to be a surprise.
My dad is on cloud nine, he’s got two granddaughters but of course a grandson is special too. I can’t wait to meet him! I wonder what he looks like? I’m leaving work early today to go introduce myself.

Happy Day Day and welcome, lil’ Willie!

Congrats, Ghanima!
Now you do know it’s your job to sit for them whenever you can.
When he’s old enough just remember…cola and cookies 15 minutes before the parents come to pick him up.

Do we get to see pics?
Preferably after they’ve de-gooed him.

9-11-01 will always be an important date. Somehow I don’t think 11-2-04 is going to have the same weight after a year or so. I doubt if someone is going to say to 18 year old Billy, “Wow you were born on the day BushorKerry won.” Your neice on the other hand is always going to have people do a double take when she mentions her birthdate.

We’ll see if you’re still saying that tomorrow, when the people have risen and taken to the streets!!!
