My Cable TV now has 4 Speeds fast forward

Just discovered it yesterday. Like everyone else, I zip through the commercials of the things I record, and usually use the max speed—3 arrows >>>.

Yesterday I stomped on the FF button and found a 4th speed!

So today, after watching a DVR of Poker After Dark, I timed the two top speeds:

3 speeds forward through the hour’s program took 1 minute 53 seconds
4 speeds forward through the same hour’s show took 27 seconds. Honest. Went backwards and it was still around 27. Forward again, 28.

Pretty fast, wouldn’t you say? If you haven’t got this little feature yet, I hope you do soon.

Yeah, we got this upgrade a few months ago. Sweet!

I have 5 arrows, so pfffffffft.

Of course, I’ve never timed it, so comparatively, my 5 arrows may be no faster than your 4, but 5 arrows *must * be better… right?

Of Course.

They set us up with that 4th arrow a few months back, and yeah, it rocks.

It’s especially helpful when CBS is showing a football game at 4:00, and we know that it’ll push all the evening’s programming back an unknown amout of time. We just set the DVR for about a four-hour evening block, and we know Cold Case and Without A Trace will be in there somewhere.

That 4th arrow helps out quite a bit for that search.

Dish Network has had a 300x speed for a couple years now, which is probably more or less what the “4 arrow” speed is on your cable box.

Do you have Dish Network?

We tried Satellite a few years ago, had a the strongest signal you can get, but when the wind blew the picture deteriorated—honest, And when it snowed or rained, pffffft. No pic.

Does your picture hold up even in bad weather (assuming you have Dish)?

Ours goes to 11.

But I had Buttered Pecan Ice cream for breakfast, this morning. Nyah! Nyah! Nyah!

True. Last week, I came down with pneumonia, and this morning, woke up feeling great - feeling that I’d turned the corner. I hadn’t even opened my eyes, but in my mind I saw the 2 quarts of ice cream we have in the freezer. Wife’s sick, too, and had yet to awaken. So, I sneaked into the kitchen, gouged out two big scoops, and got it all down and the dishes cleaned before the wife got up. Heh heh heh.
