my circle of friends is on the verge of a falling-out

I find it both tragic and sad that we couldn’t all get along with each other, because things were nice while they lasted. All this because my ex-girlfriend feels the need to be friends with every guy she’s broken up with. Most of them stayed, with the futile hope that they might get back with her. So she has this circle of guy-friends oogling after her. Her and I are kind of distant. Every now and then she’ll ask me for a favor or something but I’ll say no but she never wants to hang out or spend time with me, go figure; suffice to say its a rather hollow friendship. Apparently, one guy she had dated she was still fooling around with for some time. During this time, she dated, and later broke up with, my best friend. Its become apparent to everyone recently that both her and the guy she’s messing around with have done this for some time but merrily dated other people while keeping it all a big secret. Come this weekend, there will be people that will stop talking to each other, and very likely my best friend will kick her out of his house (she moved in when they were dating-BIG mistake)

In the end, though, my best friend and I are unchanged- I guess you could chalk it up to the ability for us to be totally honest with each other

I’m not sure…why do you want to hang out with those guys? Your best friend, sure but the others?

I have to admit to some bias here. She sounds like my ex-wife. Probably is.

That sounds messed up… cheating is just one of those bad things.

I am one of those people, however, who has remained friends with most of my ex boyfriends

Wouldn’t be surprised. She seems to have been around. I don’t hang around with them that much; they aren’t close friends of mine. The only common factor is her; everyone is friends with her but not exactly friends with each other.

Ayep. That’s the problem with women and losers: She can get all she wants and they will anything for a woman’s attention. Saw it myself in high school when I was the only one with a girlfriend.

Actually, I saw it in college, too, with losers we saw once a week who were (are) totally hopeless with women: One girl who hangs out will turn a roomfull of geeks into jackals.

Deal and move on, kid.
