My Cup Runneth Over- A Championship MMP

Hello, all! As usual these days, all I managed MMP-wise during the week was lurking. For in-depth reading/replying purposes, I’ve gone back ~24 hours (it’s currently 12:50pm).

Catglove! Yay! :waving_hand:

After this week I definitely have a better handle on the project at work I had to take over when that b**ch former employee quit without either warning or notice, but it’s still a lot – and I still also have my regular job to deal with. The project has significant customer events at the end of next week and at the end of August, both with super tight schedules that will be no fun at all, and in a couple weeks we’ll be starting customer meetings and reviews related to a Big Deal milestone that’s happening in December. I’m hoping to have a backfill hired by the time of the August event, so I can hand the Big Deal off to them. :crossed_fingers:

Yesterday I only worked 1/2 day. First thing in the morning I went to the lab for a blood draw (the results are already in MyChart: best A1C and other numbers I’ve had in years! :tada:), and at 11am I went to the optometrist for some glaucoma testing (there’s a family history plus I’m a type 2 diabetic, so I always get testing with my annual eye exams; this year they split up the tests). Then, at 4pm I went to the old house: the final cleaning was happening, and when it was done I gave them a check and got the key back. I also confirmed that the trash company took the bins away as planned, and picked up an unexpected package from Swarovski (the annual membership gift…oops, I’d forgotten to change my address with them!). Before I left the house, I turned the a/c off: all of the painting and cleaning work is done now, and I’m not paying to cool an empty house for the rest of the month.

I told the property manager I was ready to schedule my move-out inspection, and I’ll be meeting him at 5pm on Monday. After that, I should never have to go back to the old place again! Just 10 more days and I’ll be officially all clear of that house (the utilities will switch out of my name). That will be a good feeling. It’s kinda weird to not live in that neighborhood anymore – I still drive through it when I go to the grocery store – but I don’t actually miss the house; I thought I might, after 12 years. I find that I just really miss my dog: the new house is the first place I’ve lived where she’s never been since 2008.

Speaking of the new house, all of the unpacking is done and these days I’m just futzing with where I want things to go. The main floor and basement are good; what’s left is organizing the master bedroom/home office/third bedroom (and their respective closets). I switched some shelving around yesterday, assembled a floor lamp for the third bedroom this morning, etc. The very last thing will be putting up the pictures and artwork, but I haven’t finished planning that yet. And first I need to get all of the cardboard out of my house: there aren’t any boxes left on the main floor, but there are still a bunch on the top floor (all empty and flattened). I take a few every time I go downstairs, and eventually they’ll all be in the garage on the pile that’s gradually being put out for pickup. The cleaners come for the intial cleaning on July 6, so I have that “deadline” in mind.

In general, though, I’m finally starting to be able to actually live here vs constantly unpacking. I’m about to head to the basement to eat some lunch and watch a little TV, but later this afternoon I plan to work on fixing the Lego sets that broke when I moved them. My hope is that next weekend I can start assembling one of the 5 (!) sets I have waiting…oh, and I ordered another one yesterday. I might have a problem. After Lego I might do a little more organizing around the place, or I might just be a lump on the basement couch for the rest of the day/evening.

Tomorrow I’ll be going to Baltimore for a Fathers Day lunch with my dad and brother, so I’ll wish all of the Mumper dads (and dad figures) a happy Fathers Day now! :two_hearts:

NEVER MIND THE LEGO I’LL BE RIGHT THERE!

He has good taste!

Wait, how does Chloé stink and have long/ragged claws after a beauty/pedicure day?

The stinkage occurred between the haircut/pedicure and the washing of the pup. One side effect of the puppy pedicure is that her claws have sharp edges, which will scratch the hardwood floors, so she gets sent out for a short one mile walk to wear down the edges on the sidewalk. It’s hot, and she got stanky.

Are they serving poi?

Wow. Seven gas stations between our house and the base; most of them are down to around $3.83.

Another excuse for the library’s not being open. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

The NWS three-day summary says we had 68 ferrets when I woke up to feed the cats; currently (1400) we’re at 77 out of 78. Lots of sun, but the heat index is only increasing the ferret count by one.

Lady SCAdian used to work at a grocery store that had its own gas pumps. Don’t remember how many points it took, but we could use them to get the gas price down to $0.009 per gallon. Only good for twenty gallons, but neither of our cars holds that much; we’d go there together, fill my car first (because hers gets better mileage) and put whatever was left into hers.

Lily seemed to be experiencing separation anxiety for a week or so after she came back home – if there was a closed door between her and me for more than a few minutes, she’d start calling for me to come back. She hasn’t been doing that the last few days, though.

Librarys here are open.

Libraries.

It’s taking longer than we thought.

It’s 30 minutes to pig roast and I see no sign of anything! Maybe it’s coming via food truck? FCD isn’t back yet either. I cleaned and Old English’d the deck - it looks good. Then I used some on some cabinetry. Big improvement. Otis and I took another walk and now we’re just chillin’.

So semi-RDOS.

JtC, the good vibes coming your way continue.

Everyone else, yeah, you, too.

Guy across the street was using a string edge trimmer for so long, I think maybe he was mowing the entire dang lawn with it.

Now there’s a motorcycle parked with their “music” speakers cranked LOUD. Lotsa profanity. From them, and now from me.

JtC if I put on pants & kick that damn thing onto its side, will I go to hell?

I haz a grumpy with humanity and I haven’t even floated into Long Night shift yet.

Omg.:woman_facepalming::nerd_face:

A lovely day off yesterday. Had breakfast out, read the newest mary kay Andrew’s book.

Today was the shopping trip. The water in the fish tank is doing well so I got 8 Pygmy Corydoras. They are having a great time in the tank. They are zipping around checking everything out. They are soooooo tiny.

To further the discussion, I love u s biscuits! Butter and honey are my toppings. Scones, love them as well, cream then jam. Sometimes just cream.

Ehh, we all make mistakes. Only you had just done it here to someone else:

Dispare to Despair

So I couldn’t resist.

(I fixed that title, by the way. Even before I saw your post.)

Found the pig - set up on the far side of the office. They’ll be taking the food over around 4, so that’s good to know. FCD is on his way, caught in traffic. The Blue Angels are zooming around at the moment. Otis is crashed again after another short walk.

And so it goes…

I need to mow the lawn, but have a case of the donwannas, plus my back is killing me. Ms Peach got taken for a mani-pedi since I couldn’t do a good enough job the other day. The tech told me she managed to grind the pedi, but there was too much wiggle to do the front feet.

Alright, feeling up to weedwacking stuff. Very glad I invested in a battery powered string trimmer. Way better that the dumb gas powered one I still keep in the garage for no reason. Time to DEET up and do some stuff.

Put an ad on FBMarketplace. Price them to sell. The boxes for electronics and wardrobe boxes will be snapped up right away, so you may want to sell everything as a lot. When I moved last year, I spent about 1/4 the price of new by buying used.

I may make some apple pecan muffins this afternoon. I have a couple of Granny Smiths that need to be used up.

The meetup and grump was very nice. We went to the beach and saw a dolphin jump, which is really not a common occurrence (even the lifeguards who sit there all day were going ‘Oooh!!’) and went to an overpriced fancy bar, because all the normal places were packed full cos of the football and a small beer festival.

If I was thinking of applying for a job where she works, I ain’t now. I hadn’t realised how crazy things had got there. It really isn’t looking good for the job market (if/)when I finish this PhD… I’m not going to think about it until I’m done though. However bad it will be looking for a job as a new PhD holder, it will be much worse trying to do it as someone who spent the best part of 4 years trying to do one and not.

By the way, with the cheese talk, I have a couple of pints of milk which are basically at the point where they turn into something resembling yoghurt if heated (well before the use by date, I might add). Any suggestions for what I can safely do with it?

They had K come in to do the 300 Slide today. So of course, I had to go help for an hour. She’s slow, disorganized, and chaotic- I had to dig through 20 boxes to get to the other work station. Then I had to catch up on the 100 and 200 slides, since they had been unattended. I finally knocked off about 12:45. I started laundry, and gave Spot the attention he was demanding. Now he’s off who knows where, and I’m having a gin&tonic.

He does enjoy it a lot. Hence the “emotional support dryer”.

Thee are a few left here and there. But for the rest of us, “Here’s a prepaid minutes card, call someone who cares.”

Apparently they’re celebrating the heritage of parking atop Richard III.

Maybe that’s why QEII had corgis. “Oh bother! Monty, Willow, wet cleanup on mummy’s lap!”

What, is fire not a morning person in your neck of the woods?

Or at least lighting up the sign

This is why I love this place.

Don’t feel bad. Eye lerned too spele inn publik skoolz, two.

I’ve never heard of time of day restrictions due to fire risk - what is the thinking behind this? You mentioned it’s only getting up into the 70s, so I assume it’s something other than heat creating the fire concern?

Our local fire authority determines how/when we can mow throughout the dry season:

Oregon Dept. of Forestry Western Lane District Public Use Restrictions - PDF

The restrictions are based on how much humidity is in the air. We live in a humid climate, so it’s deemed safe to mow before 10:00 a.m. (and after 8:00 p.m., if you’re game!) even during periods of high fire risk.

And I misspoke. We’re currently deemed at moderate risk, so instead of gas bagging here this morning, I coulda been mowing until 1:00 p.m.! Oh, well. At least I got my weeding finished!

Hope this clarifies.

Howdy Y’all! The sun actually decided to come out and play, so we had two hours of quality-ceemint pond time this mornin’. That was followed by showerage, nappage, day drinkin’ and havin’ a geezer sup of leftovers at four p.m. We finished the Netflix series on Thomas Jefferson and started one on George Washington. Definitely need to find sump’n mindless and light hearted soon. I would definitely end up with a lapful of clotted cream and jam. I have the social graces and finesse of a drunken raccoon.

BooFae I assume your night out is about over by now. Hope you had a good time.

MOOOOOOM hope the pig out is good.

Taters hope y’all have a good time. Has Zeus calmed down any?

JtC I will never do it, of course, but the read about cheese makin’ is innerestin’. I am far too slothful to undertake it. I hope you can get your pizza and anything else your heart desires after your surgery.

BrightTree thanks for the explanation of mowage restrictions in a drought. I had never heard of such a thing.

Oopsie glad you will soon be free of the old digs. You’ve done a whole lot towards gettin’ your new digs set up. You deserve some Lego and leisure time! Enjoy lunch with your dad and brother.

52 awful nice of you to arrange a lunch for mom and her friends so they’ll have somewhere to go and sump’n to do.

nuts glad you managed the meetup and grump session. How cool about the dolphin!

doggio we warded off scurvy and malaria as well.
