My Cup Runneth Over- A Championship MMP

Home. Whew. The pig roast was OK, tho my serving was more fat than poke. The mac-n-cheese was really good, tho. I watched Tobias when he showed me how he swims (not very graceful, but definitely fearless.) We left them in the pool and came home around 5:30. It’s nearly 7 now, so we’ve had some chillage.

FCD and I are definitely taking the boat out tomorrow to check the engine repair. Whether Daughter and her crew come along is up in the air at the moment. If they do, it’ll still be a short day out there. We want to be on the way home well before the air show is over - traffic was awful today and the show had ended an hour before we hit the road.

The rest of tonight will include making ice, but that’s about it. I’s tahred…

I decided to destroy celebrate my good lab results by getting a medium cheese pizza w/hand-tossed crust + mini Cinnabons delivered from Da Hut. They just arrived. The Cinnabons likely won’t survive the night, but the leftover pizza will also be dinner at least tomorrow night and Monday night (when I get back from my move-out inspection).

The weather was great this afternoon, so I cleaned my deck furniture. The patio at my old place was unusable more often than not (due to weather and/or bugs) so the table and chairs had gotten quite dirty, but I broke out the Lysol wipes – many, many Lysol wipes – and was pleasantly surprised by how well they cleaned up. I still want to wipe them down at least once more and then rinse them before any serious use, but it’s nice to know that I could sit outside now.

I also fixed all but one of the move-broken Lego sets, and started assembling the smallest of the new sets (a gray wolf [I love wolves]). I hadn’t done any building in over a month, and it felt good to “play” with bricks again. It really is theraputic for me. After the cleaning and the fixing, though, my back could only take about an hour at the kitchen table so a little while ago I relocated to the basement. I’m currently happily arranged on my couch with pizza and Cinnabons by my side, MacBook in my lap, Gatorade Zero chilling in a new beverage fridge (I’m going to get one for the home office, too), and The Good Wife on TV (I’ve been binge-re-watching it; I just started S6).

Ahh, gotcha!

 :joy:

I was just browsing Amazon for one of those! There’s a teeny tiny patch of weedy grass in the back yard: at first I was thinking “push mower,” but now I’m thinking “weed whacker.” If I decide to pull the trigger, I’ll get a Black+Decker model that uses the same battery pack as the hedge trimmer I already have.

There are no electronics or wardrobe boxes: the movers packed me, and when they unpacked those things they took those boxes with them. They also unpacked the kitchen and my home office, so there aren’t any dishpack boxes either.

Even if there were, though, I absolutely do not have the time or patience to deal with FB Marketplace right now.

My company brought in BBQ for everyone on Wednesday, catered by a restaurant I’d never had before, and frankly the food was disappointing…especially the mac-and-cheese. It made me sad.

I had two – Two! – burritos. The first was with carne asada, pico de gallo, Mi Esposa’s avocado dip (not, she is quick to emphasise, guac), sour cream, and shredded cheddar. The second one was with pico de gallo and some Herdez guacamole salsa only. I found the latter to be better. The skirt steak was very tasty, but not as tender as I would have liked. I’d grilled it to medium-rare.

Mrs. L.A. just made herself a ranch water – Sauza silver tequila, club soda, and a squeeze of lime. First one she’s had. She finds it refreshing (as do I). For me, I’m just sipping a shot of tequila, neat.

ETA: 17:28, and I’ve turned on the a/c.

I was putting together a red fox this afternoon. I almost reach a meditative state while sorting bricks.

Mrs Magill went back to the Lego store this afternoon and picked up the last Rivendell set for Squeaky’s Christmas present. Squeaky and Spike both asked for big ticket items, so they’re getting one big present this year. Yes, Mrs Magill starts her Christmas shopping in June. She’s a planner.

One year my ex had all of the Xmas presents bought and wrapped by the end of July.

Do I remember Itchy and Twitchy getting after him, in that episode, about using lye in the process?  Or was that pretzels?

Must’ve been pretzels, because I’ve never heard of lye being used in making bagels. Malt syrup can be added to the boiling water, that’s pretty common. But no use of lye that I’m aware of.

I don’t eat bagels, but I’ve heard of it. Here’s what I found on a quick search:

That’s pretty fascinating! Thanks for fighting my ignorance and sharing a source. The recipe looks interesting and I might be moved to try it sometime. I bookmarked it.

I’d probably move the boiling operation outside, though, as it’s not worth risking the finishes in my kitchen.

Here’s a Reddit thread on whether it’s worth it..

Sadly, eating a bagel would be a major breach of my diet. :frowning:

Done

A good idea to stay in the same habitat, so to speak.

I’m a little freaked out, Ms Peach found a new way out of the backyard fence and has been missing for about 2 hours. I followed her until it got dark when I lost her. I occasionally hear the jingle of her collar. Left the gate open in hopes she finds her way back.

Hi red, did you move to TX or are you just visiting your sis?

Thanks Oopsie! Congrats on the good lab results. Sounds like a lot of drama/change in your life recently with a person quitting with no notice and you being stuck with the work, apparently your pup passed, and now you’re moving/have moved. Are you renting or did you buy the house? Exciting times setting up in a new house. Happy Father’s Day to your Dad.

Hubs gets bagels at Einstein’s; blueberry for me. :blueberries:

Laundry done; I hung up all the shirts/blouses then asked Hubs to hang up the rest as I had to get ready to go to church. Since it’s the 250th of the US, the church decided to have exposition of the blessed sacrament in the Adoration Chapel for 250 hours and asked us all to sign up for an hour. So, I looked for one when no one else had already signed up. I went noon-1pm. The other unsigned up for hours were 2am-3am, etc. I passed on those.
When I got home, I only had time for a quick bite and a quick change then we were off to the grad party. The graduate and her family lived in the house next door but they moved 8 years ago, first to an island in the Detroit River, then to the UP aka Upper Peninsula. So, she got to have 2 grad parties; one for her friends in the UP and another in metro Detroit for all her relatives and former neighbors/friends. It was at a park about 35+ minutes away. A lot of good food and conversation. But we didn’t stay that long as Hubs informed me that since he went off the anti Graft vs Host Disease medication 11 days ago, that he isn’t feeling great; low energy/lethargic. I told him he will be calling the Dr on Monday. I dropped him off at the end of our street, just half a block from our house since I didn’t want to be late for 4:30 mass; just barely got in the pew when the Processional music started.

Sometimes it’s good that the new priests are reassigned every 3 years but sometimes not. I can hardly believe that it’s been 3 years since one of our current associate pastors has been here. He’s great; will be very sorry to see him go. His new parish is 26 minutes away so maybe I’ll pop over for mass one Sunday when it’s convenient.

Mollie good job on the fox; it’s cute.

I live here now. Moved last August.

I napped. Spot napped in his napped nook. Dinner was a Sazarac and Asian BBQ chicken stirfry. I’m watching this morning’s Stanley Cup parade.

Mine has been on since April.
And I do Patròn Silver, Topo Chico and lime for my ranch water

{{{{VanGo}}}} and come home, Ms. Peach!

Ms Peach is now in the back yard being a skittish a-hole. She doesn’t want to come in to the house. It’s like she went feral during a 2 hour romp around the neighborhood and now doesn’t trust me anymore. I did make her have her nails trimmed today, then put her in the crate for a whole 10 minutes while I took some shrubbery to the dump.

At least she’s home, thank Og. I hope she gets settled down soon.

Dogs can be such exasperating jerks. But I’m glad she’s home!

Bad news, she escaped again and I can’t find her. I tailed her for several trips around the neighborhood, probably going into areas I shouldn’t have been in, but lost her when she ran down behind a garage. Leaving the gate a dog door open in hopes she finds her way back.

Gonna go back out and try to hear the jingle.

If Wikipedia can be trusted on this point, it was pretzels. In the “Fictional Characters” section of the show’s Wikipedia article, scroll down to the listing for “Itchy & Twitchy”.

I’ll fire up my crew for GYFBH* purrs/coos. This kind of thing is why both my cats wear electronic tracking tags on their collars.
