What’s yours? Mine’s “I Got My Game On” right now. Between that and blasting “Here I Go Again” I think I’m driving my office neighbors nuts.
Scandal!
No really, I’m kind of surprised to read that.
Ugh, me too. Except for the boyfriend thing. My obsession is entirely from internal forces. I’ve been listening to the Dixie Chicks (I’m Not Ready to Make Nice and the Top of the World Tour album), and then I went to Garth Brooks’s No Fences album. That’s right, folks, I’ve got friends in low places, where the whiskey flows and the beer chases my blues away. Then came Mary Chapin Carpenter. Lord help me, Lyle Lovett’s right beside me with his hand upon my thigh, and I don’t even care.
I bet if it was warm enough, I’d be wearing a blue jean skirt and cowboy boots, which I’d have to buy.
I cannot stop listening to the song "Sittin’ at a Bar " by Rehab (link goes to a youtube video). I’m not so much ashamed that I like the song, but the fact that I’ve listened to it about 15 times in the last two days.
And add me to the list for the apple bottoms song. I caught myself unable to sit still when it came on in a bar the other night. What is it about that song?
In particular mine are currently the Dukes of Hazzard theme, and “Driving my Life Away” by Rhett Atkins. I’m so ashamed…
I hear ya. The cowboy hats at the mall were looking quite attractive yesterday…
Nothing wrong with country, a lot of good music there. A lot of the modern radio stuff is drivel.
I saw the Dixie Chicks on Austin City Limits on PBS this weekend, I think it was a couple years old, they were still talking about the Bush comment, but it was a pretty good performance. They had the house jumping with “White Trash Wedding.” I think it’s re-running a couple more times this week.
Somehow I missed the Ronnie James Dio era of Black Sabbath on its first go-round in the 80’s, but now I’m constantly playing their 1982 live CD “Live Evil”, as well as 2007’s Heaven & Hell live at Radio City Music Hall.
To make matters “worse”, I’ve turned my 7 year old son into a Dio/Sabbath fan.
I guess the next thing for us is an actual concert.
My, that has a whole world of catchy, doesn’t it? Thanks… I think!
Oh dear–after a lyric check on that song maybe it might be better to hold off on singing the song about boinking the underage hooker, no matter how much it annoys your daughter!
I know it sounds incredible, but I only just now discovered the internet-girdling phenomenon that is Dick In A Box. Where have I been?
A gem I missed the first time around- Matador by Garland Jeffreys- better in the live version as it doesn’t have the annoying DA DIP DIPS at the end of the LP version which are completely annoying and out of place.
Ah, I don’t think so. It’s about a girl who dances so good she got the guys salivating and buying her drinks.
Geez, some people gots dirty minds.
And, to further my point, the song is from Step Up 2 The Streets a movie about dancing at clubs (part 2).
“When David Heard” by Eric Whitacre.
I was surprised to realize it but I honestly and unironically enjoy all of their singles. Even Animals.
Also, Not Ready to Make Nice is a fantastic song. It gave me chills when I first heard it.
Lately, I’ve been hearing this song that repeats the words, “I wanna make love in the club, in the club…” over and over. Not into the idea of picking up some stranger at a club, but I like the music. It’s embarrassing, but there ya go.
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Youtube them.
Not Ready to Make Nice is so cool
I live in a guilt free musical universe where everything is judged on individual merit and I could care less that I not supposed to like something or not. That being said, I’ve been on a bluegrass streak lately that seems to odd some of my social group out. Too bad, I only wish I could pick like that on my guitar.
Three things we’re listening to :
- Paul Anka, “Rock Swings”
- Hayseed Dixie, “A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC”
- Mondo Exotica , Volume 1
Don’t even ask why these three things - just happens to be what we loading into the CD player and it plays over, and over, and over, and over . . .
Seconded. I can’t stop listening to them… when nobody’s around.
