They didn’t think today’s missions through very well, did they?
Not at all. I had assumed they used a heuristic like: one hard, one easy, and one medium difficulty task. I completed two of today’s tasks without even realizing it.
Last week I was waiting for a flight to St Helena. Last country I need in Africa.
They cancelled it.
It’s on again tomorrow, so here’s hoping.
I’m hoping to catch that as well. I have only 2 countries left in Africa and 1 in Asia. 18 left in the world, plus Antarctica.
It turns out I did catch the Kyrgyzstan flight yesterday without knowing it. The destination it displayed just wasn’t what I was expecting. I’m sorry for doubting you, Kyrgyzstan.
Lots of ultras over the UK this weekend as there’s an airshow in Hampshire. The UK usually has good pickings anyway on weekends, but this weekend is especially tasty.

I noticed that I no longer get trophy pop-ups. Neither that trophy or my first Cybercard trophy popped up.
Anyone have recommendations for where to find a Piper Saratoga?
There’s a page on flightaware that shows each aircraft type, its type ID, and the number currently airborne. Click on the ID and it brings up a page with a map that has a dot for each aircraft. Find one near an airport that you can travel to for cheap, and catch it. Don’t put too much faith in that page, though; I’ve seen occasions where a type was in flight but not on the page.
I searched last night and there were only 2 or 3 in the air. It’s not shown under the name “Saratoga” within the game; I think it calls it a Piper PA 32.
Did not get the St. Helena flight this week, but I know why I missed it. Should be able to find it next week. I’ll also be trying to get the rest of the Oceania countries. It’s kind of a mess of flights on different days to different islands. Honolulu seems like a good airport for next week. Guam too, but I suspect that would be a tough one to complete the tasks for.
Thanks for suggesting FlightAware. I had been trying to use FR24 in a similar way, but there were so few in the air that they were hard to see on the map. FlightAware is much clearer in that situation.

How are Dopers doing on the Speed Dem on and Heavyweight Champion trophies? I’m 0/12 and 10/12 respectively.
I don’t actively search these planes out, but I’m surprised I haven’t found any of the fastest aircraft.
7 now; I think the last 3 or 4 are gonna be pretty difficult.
1/12 for the Speed Demon. They’re all military, of course, so I’m not sure how often they even use their transponders. I think I saw a couple F-15s do a flyover before the football game in Seattle; maybe that would have been a good time to catch one.
9/12 on the Heavyweight. I’m not sure if the last 3 are gettable; are they even flying the Stratolaunch anymore?
I have all except the 747-300 and the Scaled 351 Stratolaunch (Roc?).
It sounds like Stratolaunch still flys quite frequently, but they don’t pre announce their schedule. The most active 747-300 is in Belarus.

3 countries left, and yeah they are the problematic ones: Ukraine, Monaco, and US minor islands.
I got Monaco some time ago. Apart from that, I have no idea how to get Ukraine and Wake Island.
I’m only 7/12 on the heavyweight trophy, but I haven’t been playing near as long as most of you.
I traveled to an airport near JFK/EWR/LGA. Holy smokes, I thought it was busy around Atlanta, and this area is absolutely swarming! I am not getting as many unusual destinations as I thought I would, but it may be due to timing on my part.
I’m thinking about trying to unlock all of South America (llama trophy, currently at 7/14) and then perhaps the Caribbean to work towards unlocking all of North America (eagle trophy, currently at 17/37).
Any recommendations on airports that would be best for that? Or are these more difficult to achieve than I realize, and perhaps I’d be better off hopping over to Europe for the first time instead?
So far I’ve only traveled to Atlanta and now the NYC area.
I haven’t completed those trophies either and am also curious what some good strategies are.
I would guess Miami/Houston/Puerto Rico might be good for the Caribbean, but I haven’t tried.
I usually get TEB for the NYC area and BQH for London. Both of these are good for farming coins and items as well as the daily missions, but I don’t see a lot of rare destinations there.
The London area is great for rare planes, especially on weekends. Today I noticed that Frankfurt, Antwerp, and Munich are as well.
I also pick up BWU for Sydney for the daily mission. It’s also convenient if I’m playing for a few minutes before bed. New Zealand can be hit-or-miss to catch 2 international flights except for Auckland and Christchurch.
Anchorage is busier than you might expect, has a lot of Asian destinations, and is good for rare planes and high-speed daily missions.
I find that the Madrid to Buenos Aires daily mission can usually be caught somewhere over Brazil.
For the Caribbean, I think I unlocked Puerto Rico first, then travelled there to catch flights heading to most of the smaller islands. Montserrat was kinda tricky. For South America try Rio de Janeiro or Buenos Aires. For Suriname, you might catch a flight from Amsterdam.
If you want to put in the effort, search Google and find which flights head to the countries you want to unlock; make a note of where it leaves from, and when. That’s what I’ve been doing. Some countries only have a couple flights per week, and I’d probably never catch them if I just left it to chance.
I have 4 countries left. Should be three; I don’t know what happened with the flight to St, Helena today. I’ll try again next Saturday.
Thanks for the tips! I think I’m going to try either Miami or Sao Paulo next week, depending on what the airport tasks are. The airspace over Sao Paulo seems to be busier than over Rio, but I’ll keep an eye on that the next day or two to see if it changes.
For the 30 minutes of unlimited photos, does anyone know if that is locked to your current location only, or does it move with you if you travel to a different airport?
And for completing the airport missions for free travel, do you have to have already traveled there before doing the mission or can you do it ahead of time?
