My daughter has breast cancer

carlb, that’s such good news! Thoughts and prayers for a continued smooth recovery, and for no recurrence of the cancer.

I"m so glad surgery went well and that the surgeon found there’d been no spread to the fascia or muscle. I’m moved by her tears of relief. The careful and conscientious TLC you’re giving your daughter warms my heart. May her recovery be smooth and swift.

carlb, that sounds excellent. May your daughter’s recovery be swift and complete.

Good luck and good wishes!!!

One more update, because I love sharing good news.

Her recovery is remarkable. Granted, I have never had anything like her surgery, so I have no baseline for comparison, but she is bouncing back in fine form. She slept in one of our recliners last night, and said she slept well. Today she is walking about the house practically normally. Obviously, her arm strength and range of motion are limited (she asked for a glass of water, and our normal drinking glasses proved too heavy for her; have to think about things like that), but to all other outward appearances you’d be hard pressed to note anything different about her. She’s taking standard, OTC Tylenol for discomfort; hasn’t even touched the stuff with codeine.

I have emptied her drains twice now; each time there has been less fluid than the time before, and it has been lighter in color. The nurse came to the house today to change her dressings, and everything looks great.

She went out with her grandmother earlier today to get her hair washed. I wouldn’t have thought the night before that she would be out in the “real world” so quickly.

I know this is not the end of the process, but we’re over a significant hump, and I am beyond thrilled with how well it’s going. She’s a tough chick.

Thanks for update and glad to hear the good news!

This is great news!

Excellent news!

I’m so glad she’s doing so well! Down to just Tylenol already? That’s amazing! And kudos to you for emptying the drains!
