My town recently lowered all the speed limited in town to 25mph. It is a bit low for some roads, but if posted at 35, too many will do 49.

I’ve been seeing this commercial from the NHTSA a lot. It’s about speeding. Not just 20mph over the limit speeding but speeding on residential roads. It’s pretty powerful (I would not suggest that you watch it, Johanna.)

The city put a new speed bump on our residential street because it’s become a bypass to a busy intersection to a pair of major surface thoroughfares, and there are a lot of children and pedestrian traffic here.
Every time I hear some moron bottoming out their speeding car half a block away, I smile.
It’s horrible to lose a child for any reason, as I can attest. My sympathies now and in the future.

A couple/three weeks ago the mother of a former poster here was killed in a crash. She refused to wear a seat belt, and she used her cell phone while driving. She looked down at her phone and ran a red light, T-boning another car. Without a seat belt, she died on the scene.
Slow down. Wear a seat belt. Don’t use your phone while driving.
