And I agree 100% about speeding, most people treat it as just “one of those things you do”, when in my experience (former adjuster) it always makes everything worse from a driving point of view. A recoverable moment of inattention becomes UN-recoverable because you couldn’t take your damn foot off the gas.

Thinking of others in your message to all of us to slow down was very thoughtful and noble at such a terrible time. I may or may not have complained here at some point that our city was putting up fixed photo-radar cameras in my neighbourhood, but now I applaud it. There really are too many speeders rushing through these residential streets, including in school zones, and I dearly hope they all get nailed with huge fines.

The Kansas Highway Patrol just announced that, thus far this year, they have issued over 1500 citations for speeders going over 100 mph. And we are certainly not a high-traffic state, although there are wide-open stretches of interstate highways.
One of these was for 151 mph. I’d be scared shitless to be in that car.
I am so sorry for your loss. I can relate, my father was killed by an inattentive driver who struck him on his motorcycle.
Was your daughter married or did she have kids? I will say a prayer for your family and their sorrow.
