My Days with the Cute, Sweatshirt Wearing Girl.

Fantastic story, you lucky dog!

So when did you realize you had such a romantic story on your hands? A lot of people would have a hard time stepping back and seeing the story-worthiness of an aspect of their life. And would have an even harder time retelling it in an interesting manner.

Well done.

Happy

I find it difficult to believe that there’s nobody to prosecute in Chicago :dubious:. . . . . . . . . . . . j/k.

Great story Hamlet, thanks

Hamlet, thank you so much for sharing that lovely story with us! What a lucky girl (I mean woman) Mrs Hamlet is! You’re a very gifted storyteller! I’d hate to be the opposing counsel in any case that you’re prosecuting!
Got any more stories for us, Hammie? Anything? Feel free to make 'em up if you need to.
Oh my gosh, what am I gonna do with all the free time I’ll have now that I don’t have to obsess about when we’ll be getting the next intsallment?:frowning:
Haj, please pass the kleenex. Thank you Haj!

Ok. (1) That was a great story. However, (2) That pretty much never happens! Before any men out there start thinking that the objects of their unrequited love will come around in time, just remember that. Once a friend, always a friend. Too many guys just spend months, even years, wasting time. Any women care to concur?

Thank you all so much for the positive reactions. It means a heck of a lot to me. I originally started this to be a nice tribute to my Cute Sweatshirt Wearing Girl for Valentine’s Day. I was hoping she’d see it and like it, but I had no idea it would be so well received.

To answer a couple questions:

Eva Luna asked: So I know this is horribly unromantic of me, but how did you finally work out the logistics?

Boring details: We worked our way through a long distance relationship for about a year and a half, then I moved closer and had to do a three hour daily commute, and finally, I got a job right in Chicago and we finally lived in the same city at the same time. There were some tough times, and some incredibly romantic ones, but it all worked out in the end.

Happy asked: So when did you realize you had such a romantic story on your hands?

I didn’t realize it was so romantic. It was just my life with the woman I love. If anything, I thought it might be too boring and sappy for anyone other than my CSWG to appreciate.

Thanks again for the positive messages. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Imagine how happy I am to have lived it.

It is? Dam :frowning:

I will indeed concur that it rarely happens. When it does happen, though, it can be pretty darn wonderful; I speak from personal experience. I once gave up on a very long-distance thing (Chicago to Leningrad, then Chicago to Tripoli, long story!), and a good friend was indeed around to pick up the pieces.

We’d known each other for more than a year and become quite close…and once I managed to whack him over the head with a metaphorical baseball bat, hard enough to let him know that I was finally waiting for him to make a move, we ended up spending a mostly wonderful 3 years together.

Caution: it didn’t work out in the end for a number of reasons, and although we are still on speaking terms, the friendship was never the same after we broke up. I’ve frequently wondered over the years since we broke up whether things would have worked out differently for us, had I not been majorly on the rebound at the time we hooked up. And I do terribly miss him as a friend. YMMV, of course.

Sniff

You still haven’t told me if her name was Ophelia yet, though.

Niiiiiice, Hamlet. Great story. I hope to have one of those of my own, some day. The story, and the wife.

OK, so I stopped reading after page one. Did you end up boning her, or what?

[sub]Ow, stop throwing stuff![/sub]

I’m just kidding – I read the whole thing. Beautiful story, Hamlet.

Very good, Hamlet. You write much?

Well…ya made a cynical person feel all warm and fuzzy…
(I hope you’re happy with yourself, young man!!)

I was wondering tho, what did your wife think of the story/thread?..(that would be two question)

Good going Hamlet…and thank you.

=)
and you’ll be able to tell this story to the hamlet-ettes
…hey you sure this wasn’t a movie or something? lol

Fan-fucking-tastic.

Of course you know the rest of us married guys have to have you killed. Nothing personal, you understand.

Beautiful!

Ah, Hamlet, me boy-tis a touching tale, and I’m glad it ended with you getting tail. All kidding aside, you’ve a gift for oration that I’m sure will serve you well in the Law.

Congratulations on the Hamelettes, and accept my thanks for a lovely story. You and CSWG be well, live and love long, Sir.
