My dog just swallowed an ice cream stick !!

He swallowed it whole. Should I be worried or will things just naturally work themselves out ?

Call a vet! I think this can be a real problem.

And better to get advice from a professional on this, and know that your puppy is going to be healthy, than to get advice from people that may or may not be knowlegeable and not be sure if you are doing the right thing or not.

Yes, exactly. Do call the vet and have them do an xray to see where it is and how it is positioned. If it gets stuck, it could be a serious problem.

Call your vet!!

If that thing gets turned sideways or splinters in his insides, he’ll be in a bad way fast.

They’ll need to Xray him to find it. If things go bad, they may need to surgically remove it.

Good luck and I hope everything goes well!

he’s going to have a sore poop.

We can’t offer any real advice without knowing details like the size and breed of dog but the suggestion to call your vet is sound. Anecdote: I have a 60 lb husky/mix who swallowed a 4-5" rib bone whole and she suffered no ill effects but do check with your vet (am I repeating myself?)
Check with your vet.

You could always put him in the freezer–Puppysicle.

[sub]hee hee, I crack me up[/sub]

And by the way, it is time for the vet visit.

Should make it easy to pick up his next dump.
Seriously, take him to the vet. It may cost you now, but potentially it could cost you (and him) much more if you wait too long.

Then if you let him thaw a little he would be a Slush Puppy.

tsk.

breaknrun- Did your pooch pass the bone through the front door or the back? Either way, that’s gotta hurt!
