Oh, that’s so sad. But it’s beautiful that you gave him 10 good years, and basically saved his life like that. What a wonderful thing you did. And what a wonderful dog he was.
I’m so sorry StGermain.
Short-lifers give us so much and it’s never easy when one dies.
Them dying on you is one of the few downsides of owning a pet. But a big one. So sorry.
RIP Simon
Thanks again, everyone for the sympathy. While I would’ve liked to bury Simon here on the farm, in the end I called Animal Control and they’ll have someone come pick him up. I can’t really afford to have private cremation done, and quite honestly, for me, the body of someone I loved has no meaning. Because their soul, (or spirit, if you prefer) isn’t there, it’s just a body. Although I guess the “Rainbow Bridge” is trite, I hope my animals are waiting for me when I’m dead, too.
It does hurt when you lose a beloved friend, but I feel it only hurts because you gave and received love, and love is never a bad thing. So te pain at the end is worth the years of love that preceded it. If it didn’t hurt, you didn’t love; and how could I wish that.
It’s funny - it was worse just now when I was eating an apple and Simon wasn’t there droolig on my shoes waiting for the core. Simon loved fruit.
