My first emergency repair in the new house; a handy MMP

Actually, this minute, I am in Northern Albany.

Right here:

Oh, I see. I didn’t think of that since I will only be going to the Bronx Zoo and straight back. We are going with another friend. Why? Are you going to be around that day? Do you want to join us?

I am sinking fast. I was up approximately ALL NIGHT with a puking baby and I can’t decide if I’m sick due to lack of sleep, or sick because I’ve got whatever creeping crud he’s got.

Poor lil baby cherry is napping, and I think I am going to crawl into bed and stay there until he either pukes or wakes up. I hope it’s the latter.

Sure!

Sept 9 would work for me for Faire, but I might have to leave early-ish. With the exception of 8/12 - 13, I’m around there a lot. My daughter works there, so I either drop her off (Fri or Sat) or pick her up (Sun night).

swampy - I’m going to celebrate watermelon day tomorrow. The local farmer’s market is on Thursdays, and I think I’d like to try one of theirs, rather than another one from the supermarket.

Lissla - I love inane bookstore questions! I work the holidays at a store here, and fill in for them during the year when they need someone. Last time I worked, I had one of those calls that you think must be a joke. I was even looking around for a co-worker on a cell phone, and waiting for the caller to start laughing. Nope. It was the real deal. A very old-sounding woman (she said she was 68) was looking for a book on how to acheive better orgasm. Of course, she couldn’t just say that. It would’ve been too easy. Instead, I heard about how she and her husband, who is 72, only use missionary, etc. Of course, I found her a copy of this and this, and since no one has heard back from her, I assume it’s been a success! There was also the guy who wanted to order a book but didn’t want to tell me the title, and didn’t know the author’s full name (you guessed it, more sex!) I found it, and then he wanted to know when the store was emptiest, so he could pick it up with no one noticing. And I had to leave a note on his order that the cashier shouldn’t make eye contact!

Spats, Best Friend and her husband were telling us about Heidegger’s something or other to do with truth and knowing this past weekend, and they said something very similar to what you just wrote. I can’t remember all of it because I am not a philosophy phd candidate and German philosophers make my eyes cross. I do like listening to other people talking about them, though.

Taters, bellydance primarily works your core muscles, back muscles, and your legs. All the hip work comes from your quads, knees, and inner thigh muscles. It’s a great workout. It tends to make back problems go away as it strengthens your stomach muscles, because having good core strength improvbes posture.

I’m asking about books because I’m in charge of ordering a bunch of new stuff, rosie. Oh, and I have cleverly got out of doing housework by getting my parents to drive me around. I’ll be leaving in a minute. Normally I’d take the transit but the plan was to walk, and it’s pouring. Again. Yeesh.

I wish I could. I’m not getting back to New Jersey until the wee hours of August 14, which is why I’ve been pushing for a later date on the Faire trip.
Ellen, hope you and Baby get well soon.

I have a mental image of rosie stalking watermelons. It’s fun inside my head!

Prayers and good thoughts headed to Tatersmom.

Ah, I see. Well, our rain date for the Bronx Zoo is August 19th. I’ll try to let you know if it changes.

The last time I went to the Bronx Zoo was on a 5th grade class trip - what made it memorable was that while walking from the parking lot to the entrance, a pigeon left it’s airmail calling card on a classmate’s shoulder. He retained an appropriate nickname right thru junior high. (I took some delight in his plight - he was also my next door neighbor and was very mean to me - his kid sister and I were friends, tho)

I have never been to the Bronx Zoo. Somehow i missed out on it as a child.

Ok, guys, I need a little sympathy. I am doing a very tedious job. I have to compare all the numbers in our thank-you letters to a data sheet to make sure they are in right. Many of them are not as our merging program SUCKS EGGS so I have to look very carefully, letter by letter. .My head is starting to hurt a little. :frowning:

Trade ya - after having spent several weeks two months ago copying files to a special folder for our SubanesOaxley agents, I still have to pick thru them to email the specific dates they want to investigate (Why can’t they access that folder themselves, the lazy SOBs)

Happy Humpday, y’all!

Thanks to swampy, I’m craving watermelon now. But sweet watermelon - oh my! I’m not very lucky at picking out sweet melons of any kind. I usually only get so lucky when I’m at a very spendy, upscale buffet. When watermelon is sweet, it’s divine!

Reminds me, last night I went to VS for undies, and the salesclerk gave me a sample packet of lotion in a fragrance called “Watermelon Tease.” Yummers!

Well, as predicted by me, hubby managed to run into plumbing trouble yesterday when trying to hook up the new sinks. Which, by the way, are gorgeous. But now I’m sort of dissatisfied with the paint color on the walls of one of the bathrooms, as it doesn’t really contrast as well with the vanity counter color as I’d hoped. I’ve been contemplating putting some sort of glaze or other effect over the walls to see if it helps.

Anyone got any suggestions that have been successful for them?

Sure, at least it’d be different.

Tell you what, I have some yogurt-covered raisins here. Come on over and we’ll share and get our work done together.

My evaluation meeting has been moved to today at 2:30. ::Cue ominous music:: In other news, I decided yesterday that I will give notice in September, after Labor Day. I need the company to take care of a couple of things for me before I go, and if they know I’m leaving, they’ll drag their feet until I’m gone. Come September, I’m going to travel a bit - maybe a road trip to Tucson to see some friends there. There’s a lot of placse I want to go, so I’ll have to narrow it down. I’m thinking about moving out of the San Francisco Bay area; there’s really nothing keeping me here but habit and I would like to buy a house someday.

Best wishes to **kaidaughter ** and Tatersmom.

Anaamika, Picante is adorable.

Well, I’ve actually been busy learnin’ stuff most of the morning.

Now, I’m enjoying a yummy chopped salad and sypmathizing with all you number crunching, folder picking people and thinking I’m going home after this, and my trip to the gym to finish the watermelon waiting there for me before the Kid gets home from school and eats it.

I just got invited to lunch off base! Yay! There’s a whole mess o’ ROTC students at the mess this week, so they’re encouraging us civvies to not mess with there mess while they make a messjust call me Agent Mess.
Good thoughts going the way of Taters’ mom.

So where’d ya go for lunch Spats? More importantly, can you ever go back?

I want a beer. NOW! I’m still at work though. Dagnabbit!

Sweet.

Good thoughts towards Tater’s mom, too. I hope-hope-hope it is benign. My mother had a similar scare once.

I just ended up with another new pair of jeans. But, in my defence, they only cost $20. How can you argue with that?

Today a friend is coming over for dinner, and I’m going to make salad and chicken curry. She’s South Beaching, so no bread. I might be able to do straberries and yogurt and cream. We’ll see. I’m introducing her to Firefly. Should be fun.
