My first emergency repair in the new house; a handy MMP

It’s hot and I’m doing stuff outside. Cuz I like hot weather.

I’m thinking of taking the neighbor up on the “come jump in the pool” invite.

I’m tossing some ribs on the grill later, we’ll finish up the rest of a few sides that are laying around to go with them.

Alrighty, time to go water the shrubbery…

I feel the power!! Yay! See, we had a power outage a coupla hours ago, so being the responsible adults we are, we went out to get something to eat. Then FCD bought some hardware to install his big ol’ honkin’ vise to the new workbench. Then we swung by the dollar store so I could get a terlit brush and some cleanser for the basement terlit.

By the time we got back, the 'lectricity was flowing again, but I still had to open the garage door by hand. Then I went downstairs and cleaned the basement terlit. FCD is installing his vise. I carried the clean laundry up to our room. Then I reset the clocks in the kitchen and on the TV. Then I turned on the computer. You’re now caught up.

Except for the part before we lost power - I threw 9 more pots. Then I cleaned my studio. I swear, it takes as long to clean up as it does to create. I need a flunky to do that kinda stuff for me. Any volunteers? I’m not abusive - just messy. Line forms to the left. No shoving - you’ll all get a chance to make your pitch.

Welcome back, Pugalina!! I’m doing the MMP, unless you have lots of tales to share. I just volunteered because no one else would. And because I’m nice, dammit.

Hi, scout!

If you haven’t yet looked, if you go to my The kitties are coming…maybe post you will see the kitties. They did indeed make it in, and are very perplexed, spending their time in #3 daughter’s room, away from the dogs and the big ol’ Kazzpurr kitty, who is irritated that we have brought in more kitties into his domain.

I have skimmed through once again, the only post which stuck in my tired brain is Ellen’s, I am so sorry, but I am sure your puppers had lots of love and a grand life. It’s so hard to say goodbye.

I temper tested the little pom from the shelter, what a darling little dog! I am furious that the woman who dropped him off labled him a biter and signed a euthanasia card without a blink of an eye. (Shelter lady told me all about it.) I don’t think the dog is three years old, he strikes me as being more like a year and a half at the most. As soon as the shelter lady let him out of his crate he jumped in my arms. I stuck my fingers in his mouth, played with all four feet and both ears, felt his little boy parts, no trouble what so ever. I flipped him on his back in my arms and he went submissive instantly. I gave him a 100% approval, and if I didn’t have so many of my own I would have kept him myself!

I am so jealous about all the hot weather you people are complaining about. Again, it’s a grand 52F with rain in the forecast, more of the same through Tuesday. I am cold, damnit!

I have an MMP OP question, which is not to be taken as an offer to be the OP, at least yet. Does the topic necessarily have to be a current event, or may one ramble about stories from the past? I have so many stories, lots from the village, and my writing could use a good yet friendly critiquing. Just wondering…

It’s boring around here, I may have to watch a movie while I fold clean laundry, yippee skippee, I lead such an adventurous life…not.

Ok, we have this week’s and next week’s MMP lined up… looks like kaiwik is tentatively offering for the following week.

Seriously (Yeah, yeah, quit laughing! I can be serious!) stories from the village, indeed any rambling about stories from the past would make a bodacious and jake MMP. You should think about it. Really.

Silly Wabbit - there are no MMP OP rules. Just write something. It helps if it inspires conversation or tangents, but even if it doesn’t, at least it creates a thread.

Like for tomorrow, I’ve just finished drafting the OP. I expect most folks will be bored outta their minds. So what - no one volunteered. So there! :stuck_out_tongue: Maybe next time, someone else will leap to volunteer before I do! hehehe

Doggone you, swampy, did you have to stomp all over my answer?? Go jump in your pool!!!

My goodness swampy you jumped on that fast! I think you might need to add The Delegater as a surname to swampbear!!!

Okay, let me work on something, and I’ll let you know next week if I am brave enough, okie dokie?

Now, please go look at my kittens!

Incidentally, I looked at your kitties - they’re adorable! Yay, kitties!!!

Upon posting I see FCM is quick on the draw too. The two of you remind me of Room Moniters from grade school! I mean that in a good way, seriously!

Well, it’s not like I have a life…

Such cute kitties, kaiwik!

I think FCM and I are like the room parents. Now, go clean your room and no you may not leave the table until you drink all your milk and finish your spinach!

Oh and go see my comment in the kitty thread.

OK, I just finished my shoulder exercises. They are not fun, but I am making progress. I can already scratch part of my left cheek. Woohoo!

Thanks fcm, Telperien and swampy for the comments, I love me some kittens.

Now fcm you do too have a life. If I could work more on my artsy/craftsy stuff, I would be a happy woman. I began lurking around the edges of the MMP when the last mentions of the chandelier were being posted, any chance of getting the scoop on that? Pretty please?

swampy, are you telling me that I have found a chink in your armor? hmmmm… (plots deviously) I drank all my milk, and will finish any spinach which does not come from a can. (gag) Anyway, I haven’t bred any of my poms for 2 1/2 years, but I do have a breeding planned when Jewel comes into season. I predict the puppy pics will own you! ::evil grin::

Well, time to feed the beasts and then the dogs…I mean the kids and then the beasts. Sundays move so slowly. I can’t decide if I should go to bed early, or wait up for the posting of the new MMP!

Later, cool kids!

Well, this is the infamous chandelier as we first saw it. When we bought this house, the former owner bragged how they’d spent $700 for it. It was very heavy, even without the many crystals.

After we finished our remodeling, somehow that chandelier became the welcome gift in the MMP - I don’t know who started that. Then last summer, Cartooniverse was in DC on business and he came to dinner at our house. Naturally, he got the full tour, and by that time, the chandelier was hanging in our old laundry room. FCD offered the monstrosity to him, and surprisingly, he accepted and took it back to New York with him. I don’t think he’s been back to the MMP since then… And nothing has replaced the legendary chandelier.

If you page thru the other pics, you can see some of the “Before” and “After” of our remodel, phase 1.

Yay! Puggy’s back! (Glad I wasn’t losing my mind.) Sounds like you had a nice vacation.

Oh, and Dot glad you’re back too. Puppy looks friendly. How old is she?

Sounds like you’re making good progress on your craft show collection, FCM.

I was out pretty much all day. After church, I went to brunch with some friends, then it was off to another friend’s house so that we could go on a garden tour, then we went to yet another friend’s to plan a field trip for the volunteer group we belong to, then back to other friend’s for dinner, then I stopped at one of the field trip destinations to make sure we knew where to park, etc. Oh, and I had to stop at the grocery too, to get PB and a few other things (like on-sale blueberries, yum!). So it was something like 8:00 before I got home. And then I had to water (I’m sure I won’t be able to rouse myself early enough to water in the morning.)

I’m tired. Guess I’ll call Mom and then toddle off to bed.

Back from work-tired nurse, but had a good day. #2 son and I will finish The Hobbit tonoc. I need to pack and do laundry tomorrow, and pick up my med and run some errands, and start my paper. Work on Tuesday and then, I’m college-bound.

Am I nuts or what?

Congrats to the Dotster re gettin’ sprung!

kaiwik, I showed Cuervo the kitty pictures. He purred the purr of approval, then he resumed licking himself. This signifies contentment that some of his brethren have found a happy home. He, being a rescued cat himself, kind of takes that to heart.

MMMMM-MMMMM, my back ribs was yummy! With the last of the leftover slow-cooked beans from last weekend, and a side salad. Urp.

Salad was technically a “healthy” choice green salad with 'maters, but by the time I finished finding things to put in it, like two kinds of cheeses, bacon bits, boiled egg and olives, then slathered it with southwestern caesar, I doubt it was still recommended by the Heart Association, but tough. It was yummy.

Now, as soon as thr Kid wanders off to see her friends, I’m going into the outside freezer to get my dessert .

See, where ice cream is concerned in this house, it’s every man (or Kid) for themselves. If she knew I had those, she’d eat them, or worse, let me eat three, then she’d eat the last one.

Aw, Cuervo is purty too.

I am eating a combined dinner and dessert tonight–Haagen-Dazs Dulce de Leche ice cream.

We tried a new Vietnamese restaurant for dinner tonight. Yum! Yum yum yum! All kinds of great food – lotus root salad, grilled chicken appetizers, assorted seafood and meat with rice noodles in soup, topped off with a glass of Vietnamese coffee, with condensed milk, iced – even as someone who drinks New Orleans coffee on a regular basis, that Vietnamese coffee will really put hair on your chest! Now I’m having a bedtime snack of popcorn, shared with the two idiot doggies, who think popcorn is the very bestest food in the entire UNIVERSE. Of course, so is any other people food. Except citrus fruit. They don’t like citrus fruit.

kaiwik, the kitties are absolutely adorable! And I’ll join the railroad train to have you write next week’s MMP – I’d love to hear tales from the village. Village life is always good for interesting tales. I never get tired of hearing Papa T. tell me about growing up in a town of 200 in far northern Minnesota (he says it’s the small town down the road beyond Lake Wobegon, and having seen the place, I think he’s right), which is like another planet to me. There are so many interesting places in this world, so please, I for one would love to read what you have to write!

We’re off in the morning to go ride roller coasters in Hershey, so y’all be good while I’m gone, okay? No fighting over the chocolate, and don’t forget to feed the goat!
