We’re back from playing on the boat. The sun teased us most of the time we were out there. It kept playing hide and seek with the clouds. The water was nice, though. Smooth and warm.
I had real problems staying up on the wakeboard today. I think today is the worst I’ve ever done at it. I got up right away, but I could not get my balance, or if I did, I couldn’t dig in hard enough with the board. Hopefully, I’ll do better next time. We took some good video of everyone wakeboarding though. I also got some skiing in.
I need to straighten up the house now and then take a shower. We’re going to our neighbor’s house tonight for a 99 party.
MBG, I’ll be sure to tell the hubby that you think the purse is ugly too.
Oh, yes, Mama Tiger there are lots of people who grow hundreds of daylilies. I know several. There are several well-known daylily breeders in Ohio and the Franklin Park Conservatory just opened an Ohio Daylily Garden that only contains daylilies introduced in Ohio. Here’s Ashwood Garden, which is owned by one of Ohio’s best-known hybridizers. He’s got all kinds of examples of flowers he’s developed. Also, this lady has about a million links to other daylily sites all over the world. The place we went to this morning doesn’t have a web site yet, but their catalog says they grow 1200 varieties in their display garden. They sell 300 of those. Very pretty.
Well, I’ve been to TJ’s and bought frozen stuff (Gnocchi Sorrentino, yummmm) and bread and the all-important Greek yogurt. Oh and I stopped at the Mexican grocery and got real tortillas. Also yummmm.
Sounds like you’re the only one without unbearably hot weather, Taters (you had your turn earlier, as I recall…).
Well, I’m gonna go outside and do a little bit of gardening if it’s not impossibly hot.
Hi, everybody! I’m taking a little break from my weekend, and thought I’d come visit.
Ellen, so sorry to hear about your dog. It’s never easy to say goodbye.
I changed more light bulbs today. Really. Two of the 5 in kitchen ceiling fan went out. What’s going on around here? So, I changed them. Then I went ahead and washed the fan, the walls, the floor, the cabinets, and the top of the fridge. Also all the stuff that’s on the top of the cabinets and the fridge. I hope no more light bulbs go out.
Glad you found your earring, rosie! In addition to earrings & my husband’s hand, I’ve sometime found food in mine. Especially popcorn after a trip to the movies – it seems to like it there.
I went to the garden store this morning, and bought a Japanese pussy willow. It’s got pink buds. And I’m telling you this as a little gift to the juvenile minds out there. Tomorrow morning, I will dig a big hole and cover the pussy willow with soil. I’m also going to transplant some decorative grass to the same area as the pussy willow. If it all works out, I’ll share pics next week.
I think it’s finally my turn in the shower. I had one this morning, but it’s SO humid here (not to mention hot), and I worked so hard today, I really need another. Next weekend. I’d like to go wakeboarding with Taters instead. Of course, there’s only the entire country between us…
Control your astonishment, everyone–I, Telperien, went to a movie.
By myself.
I enjoyed it immensely. The only thing is, I think I might have enjoyed it even more if TBT had been able to come with me. I do enjoy seeing movies with boys, after all.
What did you see, Tel? I saw Pirates of the Caribbean:Dead Man’s Chest. It was really really really good. And it sets the 3rd movie up very nicely. (Kind of like the 2nd Back to the Future movie did, only better)
Then we went to Applebee’s - they have a new yummy dessert - Dreamsicle Cake. It takes like an orange creamsicle!
Why are the ads for Humboldt squid? And what is it?
Off to work again–a fairly quiet day overall. Boy, it’s hot here already. Ugh.
I need a laptop holder thingy, so thanks for the head’s up that they’re at Office Max.
Have a great Sunday, everyone!
There’s nothing quite like being awakened by a weird, disturbing dream. I can’t remember the gist of it, but there was something about riding a bicycle thru a city, trying to get the headlight to work, insisting that it had worked before. Oh, and I was riding 3 of us on the bike. Then there was a part at a public beach and at one point, FCD and I were floating along, hanging on one of those cheap inflatable raft things. All of a sudden, it was dark, the beach was deserted, and I heard the sound of the gate being locked. So I started running and yelling (Me? Running??) to let them know not to lock us in. And at that point, I woke up. Very weird and disturbing.
So I got up, and by the time I came out from brushing my teeth, her royal highness, the feline of the household, had taken over my pillow. Lucky for her, I didn’t intend to go back to bed. Instead, I took Bernie out, then fed her. I emptied the dehumidifiers in the basement and started a load of laundry. I should load the dishwasher, too, and let it run.
It’s actually a bit cool out, so I’ve opened the house. It won’t last much longer, but I’ll take whatever cooling I can get. Rumor has it we’ll be in the upper 90s come Tuesday. Swell.
Today’s plans include some clay work and probably a trek to the grocery. Mostly, it’ll be a lazy day.
And now, I need to do my shoulder exercises. Gotta stay limber. Stoopit shoulder…
oh my… ten pages? does the MMP usually reach ten pages? Ellen, I’m sorry about your dog.
MBG, there seems to be a direct correlation between the price of a purse and its ugliness. I don’t understand. But then… there’s a lot I don’t understand.
hooray for earring recovery, Rosie!
I’m all discharged and stuff! no more IOP! I get to have an actual summer now! yay summer!
Also, there’s a new dog in our house. everybody say hi Tammy!
Toto’s incredibly jealous, poor thing. My family’s being so mean to her. She needs to know we still love her best. So she gets to hang out with me because I still love her best
Lately it has. We’re such a fascinating group, you know…
For the record, if you want to do a load of laundry, it works best if you turn on the water supply to the machine. :smack: When we built the new laundry room, we installed a faucet that has a single lever to turn the water on or off. I’ve gotten better about turning it off when I’m done, but I forget the part about turning it back on to wash clothes. It’s all the machine’s fault - there’s a delay between when you push the “run” button and when it starts to fill. So when I went down just a little bit ago, the clothes in the machine were dry, the door was locked, and the stupid lever was in the “off” position. :o
But it’s washing now. As is the dishwasher. And in another 10 minutes, I’ll preheat the oven to make yet another french toast casserole for breakfast. That’s becoming a tradition, till we both get sick of it.
Godd Sunday all! time for work again. 8:30 and its already 84.
Cute dog, dot. Does Tammy want to hang with the Cool Pets? FCM, I hate those dreams. The worst are the "stuck at work/3rd grade " dreams
I’m still sleepy, but I couldn’t get any more sleep upstairs. I was being squished by Mr. Taters and my dog, which caused my back to hurt. So, rather than keep trying to get the both of them to move or roll to the other side some more; I gave up and came down here.
I dunno, I may still try and catch a few winks on the couch.
We had a great time at our neighbor’s shindig last night. I actually won a hand of 99, so we’re only out $10.00 for the entire game. Unfortunately, Mr. Taters had a little too much fun and wasn’t feeling so great last night. We’ll see how he feels when he wakes up. I feel fine.
Today’s plans call for cleaning; washing the boat and my rig, and grocery shopping. We need milk, meat, etc.
Taters was being mashed? Oh, I know how it is - we really need a bigger bed, too. I like to stretch out and I am a greedy sleeper - take up more than my share of the bed, I used to be the deepest sleeper around, it’s not as good as that anymore, but I still am a better sleeper than him. So I end up moving more often to the couch.
HI, EVERYBODY!!! Did ya miss me? I scrolled back a page and did see that gt noticed I wasn’t herewith my usual blahbiddyblahblah. Yes, I was at the beach and had a wunnerful time, got all tan and ate and drank too much. Good to be home.
ellen, I am glad you got to say goodbye to Molly. Doing the right thing for them when they are beyond a good quality life is so very very hard even when you know you have to. I still sometimes think I hear my little Chang Lee.
I have to confess that for the first time I have not read the entire MMP. I WOULD but I gotta finish the housework and laundry and then do some shoppin. Who’s doing tomorrow?
He’s good. Apparently working hard. I keep forgetting to ask him if he’s getting skeeter-chomped like I am, though. I still don’t know when I’ll actually get to see him, but in the meantime, we talk as much as we can. I actually haven’t mentioned him too much because I don’t want to go on and on about him and make the subject dull.
I did end up lying down on the couch and sleeping for a little more. Mr. Taters is up now too. He said he’s feeling alright.
I really need to get my hiney in gear and do some cleaning, shopping, etc. But first, I think I’ll finish my coffee. Then I’ll get going, I promise.
We had a bit of neighbor ass-hattery yesterday. Well, really it was the neighbor’s MIL who was the asshat. The hubby was getting ready to take off to go to the liquor store, when the neighbor’s MIL backs down to bottom of the neighbor’s driveway, effectively blocking the hubby in. He told her was leaving, and she said she’d only be a minute and walked back up the neighbor’s driveway to fart around or something. Anyway, the hubby gave her several minutes, started his truck and started to roll down the driveway. Mrs. Large Asshat ignored him. So, this pissed the hubby off and he parked his truck in such a way that she couldn’t leave now either, and came back in house. He waited a good 25 minutes before he came back out. Nothing was said to him other than, “Oh, there he is, are you moving your truck now?”
Hubby is stilled pissed about that. SHE blocked us in. He would have understood if it had been just a couple of minutes while she went in to retrieve some forgotten item, but she stood out there and bullshitted with the neighbor and his wife. Why she couldn’t have just moved her car back up the driveway a couple of feet is totally beyond me. What a BEE-YOTCH!
Ah well, can’t get toooo nasty. We have to live next door to these folks and he’s the president of our HOA.
I’m afraid there is nothing else exciting going on. I wish I had an entertaining story or three to relate.
Good morning one and all. Today will be a lazy day, though I hope to get some studying done. And - ugh - laundry. The bane of my existence. I should just buy new clothes every time I run out of clean stuff.
Pugs: that sounds like my kind of vacation.
Dorothy: CUTE dog!
FCM: I think it’s brave of you to shoulder such a burden with your PT exercises.
Elle I’m so sorry about Molly. May she rest in peace.
Taters since your neighbor has an asshat MIL and is President of the HOA Mr. Taters should have gone over and carried on and on about how he’s trying to get out of his driveway but a car in his driveway (the President of the HOA at that!) is blocking him in and how he’s just sure that’s against the covenants and how he’ll have to file a complaint if it isn’t taken care of immediately. Now you see why it would never be a good idea for me to live anywhere where there’s a HOA?
Welcome back Puggy! Glad you had a good time.
I’ll tell y’all all about house demoing etc. tomorrow. I figure it’s way too good a post to waste on a Sunday afternoon.
Dots what kind of dog is Tammy. She looks like a biiiiiig dog.
