So last night was the opening reception for the gallery that I have my work in right now. I had work in this gallery last month, but it was in the back hall. This month, I have the biggest wall in the front room all to myself, as well as artwork in two other spots in the gallery. My stuff is pretty much the first thing you see when you walk in the door. You can see my stuff from your car as you drive by, even. I am very excited! This is the first time that I’ve ever had my work featured like this. In the past it’s always been that I have one or two pieces in a show, and they’re just mixed in with the rest, or like last month when I had a number of pieces, but it was not in a prominent location. This is also the first time that I’ve offered prints of my work, so we’ll see how that goes! Cross your fingers
Thanks! I really don’t expect anything to sell (or care), right now I just want to get my name out there. I want to start getting people to recognize my name and my work. I actually had someone come up to me at the opening and ask me about a painting they’d seen of mine that wasn’t displayed, wondering where it was. And someone in another nearby shop said they knew my stuff when I said my name! So even if it’s just in a little insular bubble of an art district of Cleveland, at least I’m getting somewhere, no?
I see actual, rather than aspirational, world domination, just around the corner. And if you get there before Skald the Rhymer, I’ll be your minion, instead of his.
I do hope I’m not responsible for starting an arms race.
(I forgot that I wanted to address this)
Man… 1999… I am so completely not the same person now that I was then! About the only aspect of my life that is the same is that I’m still female and still short. Other than that, just about everything has changed!
