My first post, wherein I bitch about a greedy, thieving customer

Tipping in the US is vital for most service jobs because they are paid less than minimum wage and expected to make up the difference out of tips. Yes, its a crappy ass system. Resturants etc. should just raise the prices and pay a living goddamn wage - but the system is in place and forcing the cheerful working mother of two to get your drink refills for 2.15/hr is not going to change anything, its just going to slowly kill the body and spirit of a fellow human being. In the States, you tip. And if you are me or have a soul, you tip well. The job is shit, and pays shit. For God sakes don’t add to the burden by making even less worth their while.

My fiancee did that, dressed in her dominatrix clothes. She had the tip snugly between her 36dd’s, and told the guy she didn’t have enough hands to give him his tip. Poor guy looked so embarrassed. I told her she just might have made his day, month, or even life. People never forget things like that.

I seem to recall as well that she hasn’t hit 20 years old yet. In light of that, I’m starting to feel bad about participating in the pile-on. She’s still a kid, and there’s a learning curve for everything, including basic social interaction. She just doesn’t have a base for reference yet.

Under the same principle, I hereby absolve Guin of any and all guilt she may feel for something she did when she was fourteen. She just didn’t know.

You get a pass, kid.

I could give two shits about the difference in cultures with regards to tipping. Although, with how many threads we’ve had on the topic around here, anyone coming into a thread claiming to not realize there’s a cultural difference and that tipping is customary in the U.S is a damn liar. That is, unless they’re a very, very new member.

Besides, that’s not what most of Fire Engine’s pile on has been about. It was more about her snotty and condescending attitude towards all who would lower themselves enough to order take-out pizza. I mean, why would anyone order something that they could make themselves? Honestly. That comment was so ridiculous, I don’t even know where to start tearing into it.

And you, stately plump buck mulligan, are a prince. When I was waiting tables I once got a tip in the 150-200% range. And no, it wasn’t a mistake. That was about 3 or 4 years ago and I remember the guy vividly because he helped restore my faith in customers. I don’t work in food service anymore, but I don’t think I’ll ever forget him. Nor will that delivery person ever forget you.

Wow. Lighten up.

I post something and 50 posts later, people are still commenting on it.

This all started with me saying my opinion. To which FilmGeek said

And my next post may’ve sounded antagonistic. And the next. But I didn’t mean them nearly as harshly as they came out.
I’m not questioning the validity of the entire pizza delivering business, it gives people a job. But I don’t do it. And I have a lot of opinions, which I don’t expect anyone to take anywhere nearly as seriously as everyone has taken them here.
And yes, I am a she, and yes I am 18. And yes, I live in Australia.
