My first trip to the eye doctor, ever, age 30

So I am one of those people that has had perfect vision ever since I was a kid. Great long distance vision. Eagle-eye. Proud and insufferable about it.
My husband wanted to go get checked out for Lasik and I figured, hell I’m insured and work in art history and am reading a LOT for qualifying exams and I might as well go with him and get looked at for hoots. Twin sister just went in and was just about perfect. Ah, so shall I be, I assume.
I need reading glasses! A bit of far-sightedness and exophoria has appeared at some point (and explains the headaches and drowsiness in reading-- I just thought it was the content).
Quite the shock, for one who has always been secure in good eyesight and its invincibility.
I’m in a bit of denial. I guess I’m a real academic now, though.

(people with TRUE poor eyesight are likely reading this thinking “Oh, shut the hell up, putz. OOOH! READING glasses! Mutter mutter. . .” My apologies.)

Yup. I’m muttering. But glasses aren’t that bad. They just make you look smarter

I got my first pair of glasses when I was in 2nd grade. YIPPEEE! During my checkup, I just watched some video while the doctor looked at my eye and somehow determined a prescription. Strange…since all my later checkups had me looking at charts and stuff. I remember eating cookies and candy there. I guess it did have some advantages

I’ve been seeing eye doctors at least since I was two years old. Pass some of that good eyesight my way!

I go once a year but am still shotting 20/20.

Hmmm, only kid with red hair, only kid with perfect vision, different body fram… thanks milk man.
