Setting fairness and past mod decisions completely aside, the logic being employed here, and our options of discussing it, are far more nonsensical to me than anything that banned guy ever said. In all seriousness, let me try to get this straight:
We’re not supposed to discuss his banning in this sub-forum (no problem there), yet we’re being moderated to discuss it in another sub-forum in which that particular thread was locked?

Meh, just make a new forum where literally anything about the board can be discussed - trolls, socks, banning decisions, etc.
And then to be consistent with existing policy, wait a random period of time and then delete it.
All requests for reinstatement are forwarded to us. Forwarded to me, actually. From both webmaster and Cecil’s mailboxes and rarely, from other sources (Ed, the Reader.)
So if he had complained formally we would most likely have seen it and acted on it.
We adjust spammer/IP bans all the time and we sort out situations where perhaps someone was banned in error. But we’re not likely to see it or do anything about it from YouTube.

There’s no Catch-22. The thread was closed because this guy isn’t coming back. That doesn’t mean you can talk about it in the Pit (or that you get to ignore repeated mod instructions). You can ask the mods if you have some pressing unresolved questions about these bans.
This post is stupid. You locked the damn thread, so now if people want to continue discussing the issue, should we open a new one?
I locked it on the grounds that cmyk was asking us to reinstate the poster, which is something we clearly wouldn’t consider in the circumstances. If you feel you have some additional evidence on the subject that might change our minds, you can PM me or another mod to discuss it.
It sure seems like it to me. Sure, individuals can email a mod to get an official answer but how do we, as a message board community, continue this discussion among ourselves?
Ok, we’re done here. This thread was pretty borderline anyway because it’s almost a Pitting of a banned poster. But like I said several times, moderating discussions don’t belong in the Pit. Period, end of subject. If you disagree with the ban or the closing of the thread about the reinstatement of this poster, the options are: start a new ATMB thread or send the mods a private message. I’ve reopened cmyk’s ATMB thread, so a new one probably isn’t necessary.
