My God, you MUST see Lilo & Stitch!

It was a RIOT! Truly inspired Disney fare - kept us all cracking up the whole time, plus the message of “family” wasn’t overdone. Great voices, great storyline, great animation (neat watercolor backgrounds!), and just a whole lot of fun. Go see it! I want a Stitch doll! (And I’m in love with the main character’s boyfriend, David!)

I went and saw it opening show. It was a lot of fun. Although since it is aimed at kids 5-10 a lot of the emotions are overtly explained

tmyyyyy eeeeekkkeeeeyyybbbbbbboooooaaaaarrrrrrddddd iiiiiiii sssss hsssss dddddiiiiieeeeeiiinggggg…

I think Stitch is Max the Hyperkinetic Rabbity Thing’s cousin. The shiny black eyes, the big ears, the razor jaws, the appetite for wanton destruction… It’s all there. I’m not crazy! Keep that straightjacket away from me!

Ah, but would a 2-year-old handle it as her first ‘real’ movie?

She sits all the way through ‘Shrek’ at this point (10 times a day if we’d let her).

Seriously, I wanna know…

The first ten - fifteen minutes are scary (to a 2 year old perhaps, not me), so yiou might want to show up a little late. Other than that, it should be fine.

My son actually wrote “Stitch” on the calendar on the day it came out. I suppose I actually have to take him now!

I don’t have plans to see it, but I’ve heard it’s good.

People, based on what I’ve heard, you should follow Roger Ebert’s advise. Skip Scooby. See Stitch.

Oh, as a fan and hopefully a future employee in the medium, I’m glad to see cel animation isn’t dead.

By Cecil, you’re right! All Stich needs is a deadpan canine partner, and they’d be ready to bust punks across the universe! I’m just kicking myself now for not seeing the connection sooner.

(Note: I haven’t seen the movie yet, but really want to. The premise sounds awesome)

Ok, keyboard’s working fine so I can finish my post.

… but that shouldn’t bother anybody.

I was really looking forward to the scene where they flew through Honolulu (I wanted to see my building) but I guess when they switched from a 747 to a spaceship they decided to cut the buildings too. Oh well I’ll wait for the DVD, they had partly animated that part and it should be there.

I loved the artwork. They said they wanted to make it look like 30s watercolor paintings and it does have that feel.

The Pidgin they spoke slightly annoyed me but it always annoys me cause there’s movie or TV pidgin and real pidgin and it just doesn’t sound the same.

The theater I saw it in was filled pretty good since some summer program took their 5-6 year olds to see it. About 200 of them. Very well behaved but they had a great time and so did I.

I wondered why they gave the lifeguard California wear straight out of Baywatch. But I guess they felt it would be more recognizable. Come to think of it I can’t recall any blond lifeguards like that. They’re almost all like David and wear only shorts. ( Esprix )

And I was very, very, very happy to hear Kevin McDonald. He’s my 2nd favorite Kid. First some a part in Invader Zim and now this. He definately has a good voice for this sort of stuff. I can’t wait to see what he does next.

Question: should my God see it too?

We plan to see it next weekend. Judging from a review at the IMDb, this is really a family movie instead of just a kids’ movie. It’s as if Pixar tried out traditional animation.

A lot of Hawaiian children’s books have that look too. (At least the ones we had at the library where I worked.) I’ve always really enjoyed it.

And, eh, she called the guy “stupid-head” which redeems the pidgin, as far as I’m concerned.

Good heavens, I loved this movie. This was a rare film that actually had me choking up and almost in tears.

And, yes, I’m in love with David, the boyfriend. (If my friend Glenn can be in love with Milo from “Atlantis,” then all’s fair.) And is it just me, or is it rather daring that while in his bathing suit in the surfing scene we can clearly see the muscle lines (not sure what muscles they actually are) that point down to his… um… appendage? Woo hoo!

Loved it!

The last thing I was expecting in a Disney movie was subtlety, yet one of the major (IMO) themes–the difference between meaning well and doing well–was never explicitly mentioned.

And I loved Lilo’s collection of pictures of tourists.

And I want a hovercar.

Damn! How long must I wait for it to come out Down Here?

I just got back from seeing this. All by myself, no company at all, and it was a blast. I teared up from laughing in a couple of places. And the kid behind me was on his second viewing this weekend. I am glad I saw this instead of Minority Report.

And how. I can’t begin to describe the odyssey I went through to try and buy ‘Puapualenalena’ for my niece.

Wow, that post makes no sense. I think I edited it too much. I wanted to say especially the amazing books by the Buffet from the 70s which are all out of print although I did manage to find one after an exhaustive search.

This movie has surprisingly little media impact. CNN was very cool about it saying “You should get a laugh. Or at least a chuckle.” There’s no review on their website. And the only stories I’ve seen about it talked about the numbers game between it and “Minority Report.” It just seems so different from when “Atlantis” came out. Or “Spirit.” Or “Ice Age.” Boy there are a lot of animated films this year. We still got a few more to go.
