“My Google-fu is lacking.”
“My search-fu is weak.”
Seems like people have been saying things like this with a markedly increased frequency in the last month or two.
These two phrases kind of annoy me.
Hey. It’s my humble opinion.

We have discussed this many times on both this board and the web in general. Try a search next time.
Your posting-fu is weak.
I wouldn’t know what would constitute a “next time” (in other words, I do not know what the equivalence conditions would be for a post of the nature you are referring to) so I’m afraid I can not comply.

Please go be helpful over here. thanks.
(Turns out, my google fu really is weak. I lack training.)

Oh. Shit.
I’m an idiot.
My whoosh fu is deficient.

More annoying than “Google is your friend?”
Not only is that one highly overused, it contains an implicit insult—suggesting ignorance/laziness on the part of the person to whom it’s addressed.
As someone who recently used one of those phrases, why are you getting annoyed at an admission of ignorance? The SDMB’s mission is to fight ignorance.
It’s not the content of the utterance that annoys me, it’s the form.
It feels to me like a cheesy sitcom catchphrase. Its as though everyone in the early 80’s started saying at every possible opportunity “Whatchoo talkin’ about, Willis?” And I bet they did, too. And bet it was annoying.
I’m certain there’s a much better, more contemporary example to be had, but, um, my memory-fu is weak today? ha ha?

Don’t have a cow, man!
Cowabunga!
Where’s the beef?
I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up!
I will now use Moderator-Fu to move this thread from IMHO to MPSIMS.
Cool. I’ve never been quite clear on the difference between the two in some situations.
