Woohoo! mmmmmmm!!!
Canes beat the Leafs!
Victory! I’ve discovered why the stupid document kept skipping a chunk of page numbers!
I don’t know who originally formatted that stupid document but they must’ve been bored. All sorts of weird section breaks and fancy fields inserted. Grumble.
Two more hours left, ahhhhhhhhh.
Congratulations, Haze.
My nose is clogged. That’s not unusual, although it’s less common when it rains. But my throat hurts too, so I don’t think it’s allergies doing it.
In theory, I should be able to use the external disk drive we got loaned for a class in my own computer; it has the programs we need to use, but the license is linked to a local server, so we need to be in the university. We also need to install a program from Microsoft - which for some unfathomable reason refuses to play with release versions of Windows. The list of “OS I play with” is all “unreleased” versions, but it doesn’t just give you a warning and install anyway: it refuses to install. Guess that’s the same problem another on-campus classmate said he’d been having, but which he wasn’t able to explain.
This weekend there’s a big professional meeting on campus: I expect it to be boring as all get-go, but it’s a Networking Opportunity and the tickets aren’t cheap but they’re certainly cheaper than if the same shinding was taking place in another location, and they feed you.
I have several reports due but I’m not sure in what order and for what dates, and I’m having problems concentrating long enough to find that one line in the piles of paper we got given for each subject.
My left inner ear hurts.
And what tells me I’m probably going to be dog-sick for the next few days is that those are all stupid little things but currently looking ginormous.
BLAGH!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN
Have safe trips MOOOOOOM and mmmmmmmms!
The big TPTB who have been amongst us all week leave this mornin’. YAY! Not that they’ve bothered me or anything, I just want 'em to leave. I always want 'em to leave. You know you are a TPTB when everybody wants you to leave.
I second doggio’s [del]draftin’[/del] nomination of BioRosie for the next MMP.
Time to forage and purtify.
Happy Firday Y’all!
Yay! It’s Friday! I had a fab day off yesterday, my mum came over and we went to a hexmas gift fair then we headed into town for lunch and a wander round the Frankfurt Market that comes here each November. There’s nothing like a mug of gluhwein to help you pass the time.
Back to work today and judging from my emails, the sky is falling!
Nothing else exciting today, get well sickies and rosie’s sig to everyone.
Blurf.
Ditto.
Good morning - up, caffeinated, at work.
And … TGIFirday!
Now I gotta go forage for some brekkies - I didn’t get anything before I left the house. :smack: My bad, though. More good thoughts heading out this am. Please take care, folks.
Mornin’. Happy Firday!
I think mmmmmmmm is excited about something. Anyone else get that feeling?
Spaz, misery loves company, and so does a knitter.
Socks scare the bejebus outta me, though… I’m sticking with nice, simple squares and rectangles for now, and possibly some very very basic shaping if I can get the hang of increasing/decreasing.
gotti, that Podzilla thing sounds… ummmm… scary. But in a cool way.
I find myself with a dilemma. Work is providing a bagel breakfast at 10am. I’m very excited about the prospect of bagels, especially free ones, but it’s a whole hour away and I’m also rather hungry… so do I get a bite to eat now and risk spoiling my appetite, or do I put up with a rumbly in my tumbly to ensure I can chow down on a pile of free bagels in an hour?
Life is full of difficult choices. Sigh.
'Appy Firday!
Thank Og 'n FSM it’s the end of the week. Work is blessedly slow (for now) which has allowed me to ease into what’s otherwise a somewhat blurfy day – thoguh I did get more sleep than normal last night (except for one of the cats scheming to wake me up two or three times during the night to meow vociferously for no apparent reason.)
Got about half of our Christmas shopping done, but still got quite a bit to do, and my credit cards are already limp and lifeless. (“That’s what she said!”) I really wanted to buy a bunch of stuff to make a miniature Christmas village this year, complete with mini chaser lights and everything, but I think that’ll have to wait 'til next year, sadly. I suppose that’s okay though because I need to plan it out properly and find out what materials I need to make a convincing scene – as in, more than just cotton balls, porcelain houses and little plastic people. I might have to look at model train accessories to find semi-realistic buildings and stuff.
To work!
I want to try this broccoli pecan recipe, but probably with waaaaaaaaaaaaay less butter than the recipe calls for. Although T-day’s supposed to be about going overboard so maybe a whole stick of butter isn’t out of place. But I’m thinking I might try it some other time with less butter. I just think broccoli and pecans sound like a good idea together.
Yay, Rebo for the good presentation!
Glad your dad’s doing better, Pie.
Muppet, I was with you on square/rectangular-only knitting for a long time. Then a friend offered to show me how to do socks so last Sunday she came over and showed me how to get started (first time on double-pointeds) and how to turn the heel. I haven’t actually tried it myself, and it still looks weird. But I’m more confident than I was two years ago that I might be able to handle a sock. That and I’ve run out of people to give scarves to so I need a new project!
We went to the opera last night for a modern, English-language opera called Casanova’s Homecoming. It was really funny. Not very traditional opera-y, but lots of fun. But we didn’t get home until after 11, and I wasn’t in bed until almost midnight, which is two hours later than normal so I’m a little blurfy this morning.
At least I’m not doing as badly as a coworker who took some ibuprofen this morning, only to realize after it was too late that it was Advil PM. :smack:
I also meant to say good luck with the actual moving part of the move, gotti.
I was just catching up on blogs, and I see that LiLi’s looking for boy names. For some unknown reason, last night we were just having a conversation about this (no, we do NOT need baby names… more of a conversation about pet names really) and said that Hugo is underutilized. So my vote’s for Hugo.
Up and off to work.
To get back to the jokes topic for a bit…
“I want to die in my sleep, like my grandfather – not screaming in terror, like his passengers.”
Happy Firday, everyone! More hugs and good wishes to all who need them
I’m up and about to the leave the house for a haircut. I overslept, so I didn’t get to caffienate.
The broccoli dish sounds intriguing taxi, but my BiL is allergic to nuts.
The wind blew down one of my trees last night. It wasn’t a big tree, and it was already dead from a big windstorm a few years ago, but it still saddens me. When it was alive, it was my favorite tree and my most expensive tree. It was a coral bark maple. Guess, I can cut it up now, and put it in the yard waste bin.
Safe trips to those in the air or on the road. I’ve got to dash so I can get my hair prettified.
Well, I had a bit of a meltdown this morning when I made it in to see my dad. He’s still the same but I was just so angry with him that I couldn’t help it. You see, the truth came out that he in fact had a strong suspicion that he was having a heart attack (his 3rd) when he asked his girlfriend to drive him between 35 and 40 minutes to his hospital of choice. The nearest hospital, which is an ok one too, is less than 10 minutes from where he lives. He is very lucky to still be with us today. And, he says that he’s learned his lesson but I just don’t know.
Thanks. It’s not going to be Hugo. Or Agammemnon.
Thanks for the hugs. We’re managing, but this is going to be a steep learning curve. With a small boy shouting “Cookies! Cookies!” at me. He did it before, but it’ll be a bit more frenzied as we cut down on sugar generally.
Muppet, any idea where I can get almond flour (blanched almond flour, not almond meal) in Toronto?
Howdy Y’all! Four down and one to go! Course I only get Sunday off cause TPTB have decided we shall close for Turkey Day but we still must work a five day week. Oh well, TDay is a paid holiday, so it’ll be extra money which is always good, right?
CutiePie glad dad is recoverin’ Let’s just hope he learned his lesson.
taxi that does sound nummy! A stick of butter for sautein’ does sound like a lot though. I think half a stick would do it. Then again if I were of a mind to do it for TDay I’d go all out and use a stick cause it’s Turkey Day and all about over the top.
Taters I picture you with a new hairdo wieldin’ an ax to that tree. The mental image amuses me.
Pizza Hut is makin’ dindin tonight. I just can’t be bothered otherwise.
LiLi, does this mean that Jedediah is still in the running? Huh? huh?
I believe you can get almond flour at the majority of health food stores in the gluten-free flour substitutes area. I know The Carrot would have it… not sure if there’s someplace a bit closer to you, tho.
Glad the kidlet is doing better. I’m sure he’ll adjust to the lack of cookies… you can find all sorts of sugar substitutes at The Carrot too, BTW, if you want to play around with Nat-friendly cookie options.
Pie, your dad needs a smack upside the head. Once he’s feeling better, of course.
taxi, that recipe looks delicious. The butter content is approaching Paula Deen levels, which isn’t surprising given that the Neelys usually overdo butter IMO. For 2 cups broccoli, I’d probably go with 1/4 cup butter… or maybe even drop it to 3 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp olive oil to cut down on the saturated fats just a bit more.
Had an interview over lunchtime. I think it went well. Will share more details once I actually know for sure, because I don’t want to jinx it… it’s a super-awesome position working for a super-awesome boss, and I really really really really want it.
