I was doing yard work yesterday, and got stung by some paper wasps. One got me on the back of my right hand (looks like three times), and the other on my temple. My right hand looks like Mickey Mouses’ hand, and it’s red and itchy. I hope the swelling goes down soon.
Yeah, basically, just wait it out.
I didn’t go into anaphylactic shock, so I’m not really concerned at this point, but it really looks scary (like Wolowitz after eating peanuts).
My hand did that once after a bee sting. I was heavily pregnant, which might be why my body over reacted. Can’t remember now (this was nearly 23 years ago) if I called the doctor - I probably did due to the pregnancy, since it’s wise to be a little more cautious then - but I definitely didn’t go to hospital, so if I did call the doctor they must have said something like don’t worry unless you get other symptoms.
I think it went down significantly overnight and was back to normal a day or two later.
It really was impressive to look at! Literally looked like my hand was a washing-up glove someone had blown air into. If yours is like that you should take photos.
Fortunately, that’s a silicone ring - I was wrecking my wedding ring on the knurling of the weight bars at the gym, so I got this rubber one.
But, that’s one of the real dangers of getting stung on the hand - having to cut the ring off if there is too much swelling.
