My Hockey Team just lost in the Playoffs - I need sympathy

I am so blused out by this - the Columbus Cottonmouths finished the regular season at #1. Now we lost to the #6 Jacksonville 4-3.

Credit to J’ville - that team has improved so much from the begining of the season it is just incredible. Tap of the stick to them they came a long way to take us.

I am sad.

Friends and others amongst the Dope - jokes, stories or anything else will be greatly appreciated!

I’m so sorry SnakesCatLady. My Canes are out of contention as of tonight so I’m bummed too. I’m happy to hear that they had a great season. It’s always hard to lose in the playoffs after playing well all season. Stick tap for your team.

The Canes have 2 more regular season games, so hockey withdrawal will start for me Saturday night.

I’m trying for sympathy, but not getting there. I live in a country without hockey (hell, when I mention hockey, I have to specify “ice” as opposed to “grass”), so…er…sorry, can’t.

For you, there is always next year. For me, it is hockey exile - a veritable wasteland of cricket, rugby and AFL. I don’t even have baseball, the closest I get to a sport I understand is basketball, and I don’t LIKE basketball.

I’m even avoiding the Stanley Cup thread. I’ll cry (no seriously, I did come very close to that the first Cup playoff I missed…)

Let’s Go Red Wings…I want my ice hockey back…SOB…I’ll be good. I’ll even watch Grand Rapids…hell, I’d watch the Twinklies or - worse - the Colorado Mudslides - if that’s all I can get…

Er…

Sorry your team lost.

Cheers,
G

Hey, sometimes teams just get snakebit in the playoffs.

Right now I’m just happy to be able to see my beloved Michigan State Spartans in the Frozen Four tomorrow. State got a bit of a break in the selection, as the #3 West seed they got to play in Grand Rapids, while Michigan had a better season and wound up as the #2 West seed and played in Denver. MSU had two absolutely great games in beating back Boston U and #1 Notre Dame, easily the best six periods of the year. On to face Maine tomorrow, the team that knocked us out last year.

When that’s all over, then I can think Stanley Cup. I root for, in order, the Red Wings, other Original Six teams, Canadian teams, northern US teams. Having Tampa and Carolina hoist the Cup has been an abomination that hopefully gets corrected this year.

We have one of the season ticket mini-plans and we’re going to that last game on the Saturday. It’s going to be sort of depressing, especially after last year.

Some years you’re the windshield, other years you’re the bug.

So glad baseball is starting up soon (like tomorrow)!
