My hubby is going to Louisiana

By the very actions that you said that your husband was going to do. I commend you for helping the human beings. I condemn you for furthering their suffering by contributing the absurd actions of those saving animals instead of humans.

Helping animals when you could be helping humans in severe need is a good thing?

Unregistered Bull, no one is asking you to do anything. So stay out of the way while others do it. If you must run your yap, please stay off threads where you are doing nothing but upsetting people.

I don’t remember anyone ever saying that animals are more important than humans. But my cats are a damn sight more important than you are.

I really couldn’t disagree with this more. If I were forced to leave my pets behind when I fled a natural disaster, I know I would sleep better at night afterward, even if I was sleeping on the floor in a shelter, knowing there was at least some chance they’d survived and been adopted by some nice family somewhere. I’m sure a whole lot of people (including many in this thread) feel the same way.

They’re also doing a key service for the human beings of New Orleans here, by preventing the animals from dying and further polluting the water supply (gross, I know, but true) or surviving and forming feral packs that will be a problem for some time to come.

Your husband is a good man, pinkfreud. Best wishes from me.

If you contribute to the wasting resources on saving animals instead of humans, that is exactly what you are doing. Human beings are dieing. They need evacuated. They need food, water, shelter, and protection from disease. Not a bunch of silly animals.

Somehow your condemnation isn’t going to grieve me much.

 Back at ya, Unregistered.

Would it anger you to know that Animal Planet sent a bus to my state in the aftermath of Hurricane Floyd to assist in rescuing abandoned pets?

And as usual with people who value animals more than they do humans, you’d be wrong.

Yes. It’s disgusting. Anyoner that cares for fellow human beings in risk of serious harm more than animals would be equally disgusted.

I started this thread for two reasons: to brag on my husband a little, and to seek a bit of comfort from online folks as I prepare for my husband’s trip, which may be dangerous.

I did not anticipate that things would take this unpleasant turn.

Unregistered Bull, it seems to me that discussions of whether animals have any importance belong in GD or in The Pit. I suggest that you start a thread in one of those places. Perhaps you have done so already. I wouldn’t know, since I do not frequent either of those forums. But please don’t hijack my thread with anti-animal diatribes.

I never said that and I’m deeply confused as to where you got that from.

Good on your husband, pinkfreud–sounds like he’s doing work that’s very important for both people and animals. (Given the strong emotional ties that so many people have to their animals, knowing that their animals are safe can be a tremendous relief to human refugees as well).

Daniel

I’d also like to know what happened to the dolphins they put in the hotel swimming pools. (Not that your husband would bring one of those home, pinkfreud:stuck_out_tongue: )

It’s not anti-animal. It’s pro Human. When you think that animals are more important or even equally important as humans, I can see how you would have a difficult time differentiating that. Your husband is doing a good thing while contributing to a bad thing. That bad thing is the waste of resources on animals that could be better spent on human beings. I commend him on doing the good thing. And wish that he wouldn’t contribute to the bad thing.

If you are aiding animals instead of humans, that’s what you are doing.

The more folks argue with Bull, the more this thread will be diverted. The more they pay no attention to him, the more the thread can honor pinkfreud’s original intention.

Just sayin’.
Daniel

Again, where are you getting this??? I have said nothing about animals being more important or equally important to humans. You are setting up a straw man and knocking him down, but it ain’t my straw.

Most normal people have closer ties to humans. Any decent human being would rather you save some stranger than their dog.

I ditto **LHoD’s ** post. You *know * what **Bull’s ** opinion is. I honestly don’t know if he comes in to stir up shit, he might not, since I’ve seen him answer calmly and rationally elsewhere. it could just be he feels really passionately about this one cause. Why don’t you just say, “Heard and acknowledged, Bull. Moving on.”

You’re right. Thanks for pointing this out. No more argument from me. I didn’t come here for an argument. :stuck_out_tongue:
