My husband thinks an acquaintance is contemplating suicide--tonight

I’m cetainly no attention seeker, but I can think of at least 12 people I have known that have committed suicide (ranging from casual acquaintances to relatives by marriage to patients of mine. The first was a schoolmate at age 12)

Skepticism about claims made by anonymous posters to an Internet forum is understandable. I don’t blame anyone for doubting what I alleged my husband alleged the man said.

To attempt to mount a defense of my husband’s character would require divulging details about the personal life of a man who is in a world of hurt and despair right now. I would rather readers believe me and my husband are liars than betray the man’s confidence.

I started this thread because I wanted to know if there was anything that could be done above and beyond what I advised my husband to do. The advice I received was very helpful. I will leave it at that.

SDMB members who feel strongly about people’s motives for claiming friends and relatives attempted or committed suicide are, as always, within their rights to start their own threads about the subject.

Allow me to once again thank all who posted advice. Your concern is appreciated.
