I’ve been so immersed in LiveJournal lately, it finally occurred to me that there might be friends on the boards who don’t read LJ who just might have some interest in what’s been going on and my plans.
Where to start? Well, I’ll get the biggie out of the way first. You all recall reading my announcement of my engagement to UncleBill. We will be marrying on November 9 of this year, in Key West. My sister wasn’t very enthused about the idea at first, but has since realized the benefits of having a wedding in a vacation spot. We’ve found an absolutely lovely spot for the wedding, in an old Civil War fort that has been taken over by the Key West Garden Club. It’s beautiful.
I was planning to move to Miami in September, but that has been moved up to early July, in large part because I hate my job, and besides, I’d much rather live with my sweetie than roommates (and anyone who has read my LJ knows aaaalllll about my travails with my one crazy roomie. Ugh.).
Speaking of roommates, I still have those rooms available, so if ya know anyone in NoVa, let me know!
I don’t recall if I posted here about my car dying, but Second Honda (poor thing never got a proper name) expired abruptly in late April. Bill and I had been planning on getting a new vehicle for me after I moved to Miami, but this forced that purchase up by a few months. I was driving my mother’s car for a while–fortunately, she was out of town for a good bit of that time, so it was less of an inconvenience for her. Bill came up last weekend, and we went to CarMax and purchased a purty 2000 Ford Ranger pickup truck. After a rather long and convoluted financing process, both our names are on the title, so we now own property together–though I have to make all the payments. That’s all right, since I get to drive it. I am very much in love with my truck. Pictures if you wanna see.
As it turns out, November 9th is also my sister-in-law’s birthday, so she gets a nice trip to the Keys for her birthday. We had our first date in KW last November–nice and warm, but not crowded. Very pleasant.
I’ll tell ya, it was quite the battle, too! The soldiers almost had 'em beat, too, when the Garden Club brought out the BEGONIAS and made that last attack, leaving the soldiers sneezing and wheezing and defeated.
